I am for negative campaigning, but against name-calling
As best I understand it, positive campaigning is when a candidate refrains from saying anything negative about his or her opponent and campaigns on how great he or she is and what great things and programs he or she has in mind for Americans.

And that is certainly useful and necessary to know before I vote.

However, it might also be useful for me to know that, 2o years ago, your opponent was convicted--or even arrested for--embezzlement.

That might be considered tearing down your opponent and negative campaigning, but, if you (the candidate0 does not bring out that info, who will? Our lazy, fake media? Well, maybe, but only if you leaked it to them.

Now, I am not saying that being arrested for something would necessarily disqualify you from getting my vote. I am saying only that it may be something I would like to know to put into the total mix of who I think you are before i vote for you.

So, I am in favor of negative campaigning.

Name-calling however, is something else entirely.

If someone says something about your or your actions that is not consistent with the facts, sure say that, even say it is untrue, and then immediately give me the facts. Don't start throwing around terms like "liar," "dishonest," etc.

Americans deserve information before they vote, but name calling is not information.

You want to be a President or a Senator or a U.S. Representative? Fine. Show a little class.
