So where does Tweety fit in all this fuss on MSNBC?
He's noted to be the least liberal commentator on the network. Does that mean his star is rising this week? He has had the lowest ratings of the hosts.

I noted on Friday that he looked exceptionally cheerful and chipper. Perhaps that was because he knew about the firing of KO before it happened, and was elated that he would be top dog at the SOTU coverage?

5. You bet he is...
The guy has been around long enough to know when to start looking over your shoulder and watching your back. And I wouldn't be surprised if he admires Keith a lot. ( he respects intelligent people a lot.)

6. Right.
I have an advantage of knowing someone at MSNBC. So I'm often unhappily surprised at some of the things posted here on DU. Chris Matthews is a decent guy. Sometimes obnoxious, but a good man. And he has great respect for Keith Olbermann.

11. Asking You, Cause I Don't Know... But CM Gets Heat For Phil Donahue's Demise At MSNBC...
Ironic, if true...

that CM now pitches an appropriate fit about us being lied into Iraq.

Any info on whether this stuff is in anyway accurate?

:hi:

4. Shallow Matthews is probably knows there will be less substance to
distinguish his superficial fascination with poll numbers and political fashion statements

His show is like Entertainment News meets Beltway Cocktail hour. With KO gone maybe a few more people will mistake his song and dance with real substance.

7. Hardball is the best show on the channel
I've really come to like Matthews over the years. Hated him during the early Bush years, but I like him a lot now.

10. do you think that might be because of KO's getting the
network in more left-leaning direction and he knows which side of the bread gets the butter?

Watch that change now.

9. He will move back to being a cheerleader for the right.
The same way he did in the run up to Iraq -- though he maintains that he always opposed it.

Well, that is all in the past, too. No more MSNBC. I will read about his antics here. I will watch the SOTU on CSPAN.

13. "though he maintains that he always opposed it"

He is the only national pundit I noticed who came out unequivocally and warned against it.

. . .
"The only reason to be in politics is to be out there all alone and then be proven right."

That goes for good columnists, too.

So I'll say it: I hate this war that's coming in Iraq. I don't think we'll be proud of it. Oppose this war because it will create a millennium of hatred and the suicidal terrorism that comes with it. You talk about Bush trying to avenge his father. What about the tens of millions of Arab sons who will want to finish a fight we start next spring in Baghdad?

Well, that's it for now. You know where I stand.

Still right.

And it is important to pay attention and notice who was right and stood up.

18. Yes. This I have heard. But, when you release a statement
but have night after night on your program war hawks who were backing the war, it rather negates your a few personal statements.

His program contributed to the run up. This is why I stopped watching him. And now that KO was fired and I dropped MSNBC, Tweety is even less on my radar. But, it will interesting reading the posts here about his shift back to the right. He's an opportunist.

I used to like him when he was on CNBC. After Iraq, can't stand him.

15. Perhaps you misremember. It was G. Gordon Liddy who drooled over the parachute harness.

LIDDY: Well, I -- in the first place, I think it's envy. I mean, after all, Al Gore had to go get some woman to tell him how to be a man. And here comes George Bush. You know, he's in his flight suit, he's striding across the deck, and he's wearing his parachute harness, you know -- and I've worn those because I parachute -- and it makes the best of his manly characteristic. You go run those -- run that stuff again of him walking across there with the parachute. He has just won every woman's vote in the United States of America. You know, all those women who say size doesn't count -- they're all liars. Check that out. I hope the Democrats keep ratting on him and all of this stuff so that they keep showing that tape.

Who cares what an ignorant clown has to say?
