WH Email: You've Never Seen a State of the Union Address Like This:
Good morning,

Tonight at 9 p.m. EST, President Obama will deliver the State of the Union Address and outline his vision for putting aside the politics that divide us and moving forward to create jobs, up our game to out-compete in the global economy, and win the future for our children and our country.

This year we're trying something new. As President Obama addresses the Nation, we'll offer a companion stream of visual aids, including charts and quick stats about what’s happening in the country. You can view this feature at WhiteHouse.gov/SOTU.

Immediately following the speech, stay tuned for our live Open for Questions event with policy experts from the White House answering your questions about key issues in the speech.

Watch the speech and submit your questions:

Throughout the week, we'll have plenty of ways for you to get involved and ask questions of President Obama and other senior Administration officials about the State of the Union Address. See a full line-up of events and find out how to submit your questions:
http://www.WhiteHouse.gov/SOTU

Don't forget to tune in tonight at 9 p.m. EST!
Sincerely,
David Plouffe
Senior Advisor to the President

P.S. The State of the Union Address is a major undertaking here at the White House. You can learn more about the history and the making of this annual speech in our brand new "Inside the White House" video:

8. And it will once again be the #1 issue ignored.
Because the will of the people must be heard... unless they don't know what's best for them.

18. The CA law was undermined when its opponents pounced on poorly written sections.
Edited on Tue Jan-25-11 03:19 PM by Xithras
Half the people I know who voted against it did so because it PROHIBITED employers from sending stoned workers home, unless they could PROVE that their stoned-ness was impacting their job.

That one passage cost the proposition its victory, and nobody seems quite sure why it was included. Even potheads don't want to be doing serious work alongide someone who is buzzed. It just makes more work for you.

On top of that, Arnie took some of the wind out of it when it decriminalized it anyway. As of January 1, I can walk down any street in California smoking a joint today without fear of arrest.

2. That sounds remarkably
like an advert for a game show or reality-TV spot.

They lost me with, "compete in a global economy" because that means more of the same to me. It is local and community that needs to be bolstered as resources and energy become issues of survival along with ecological impact on our survivability.

I think, for those who are paying attention, what is happening in our country is obvious and the way the statistics are gamed by the WH could make a game of Three Card Monty look like an opportunity.

3. I wonder what will happen with the mixed seating if Joe Wilson yells "you lie" again?

It could get ugly.

two Democratic ladies escorting him and sitting with him. Word is they have a ball gag for him should he have an episode of turrets again.

11. Ooh a reminder before the speech that liberals
might as well fire up the XBox or PS3 because Obama will be so busy "putting aside the politics that divide us and moving forward" that any real liberal reform will be rejected as moronic, not reality based, or impossible to achieve. So stand by for another bland attempt at bi-partisanship. Which translated means, we'll do just enough to keep you indentured, while giving the store away to the top 5% earners. Woo Hoo. I'd rather shoot Nazi Zombies.

now that Obama's competing with two responses.
