There is no turning back.
He made the decision that he would be above politics. He would do what he thought was best for the country. He would get the most knowledgeable people he could find to help solve the nation's problems, regardless of Party affiliation.
He would seek advice from the "experts" in economics and military affairs. He would not be the far leftist many thought he would be. He would govern from a rational and moderate center, which some believed to be the conservative viewpoint.
No, it would not be wise to end the wars. Terrorism was still a threat to America and America's interests around the world. He would not hesitate to use the military to protect those interests.
No, he would not let the banks collapse. He would protect them at all costs. They were the cornerstone of American capitalism. He would spend whatever they needed to keep them solvent and competitive around the world.
No, he was not a populist. He would try to help the unemployed and the needy as much as he possibly could under the political realities, but they were not his priority.
He could have chosen different folks to advise him on the economy but he didn't. He could have chosen different people to advise on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but he didn't. Because he did not believe as they did.
The President has crossed the bridge and is willing to fight from his present position. He firmly believes he has done the right thing for our country.
History will tell.
