Egyptian neighbors creating local militias
Cairo, Egypt (CNN) -- Until recently, Seif Awad worked a day job as an account manager for Cisco.

But since Saturday he has begun volunteering at nights, protecting his neighborhood with a volunteer defense squad of young male neighbors armed with makeshift weapons. Last night he armed himself with a big stick. On Sunday, Awad bought gasoline canisters and started making Molotov cocktails.

"If anyone comes on the street we're going to throw those at them," Awad said. "And I have a friend here who has a gun."

Shortly before he spoke on the phone Sunday night with CNN, Awad says he and his comrades scared off a group of men who tried to scale the walls of his upscale gated residential neighborhood.

1. I saw on CBS Sunday Morning the rich in an airport fleeing the country to
Dubai. I guess this upscale gated community resident has decided to stay to protest his stuff. I read another report that the communication needed to keep the stock market running was not shut down when most channels across the internet were. Over-all, I'd say the elites are scared if they're running and taking their money with them. Of course, who knows if any of this is true....I side on the truth. imho

2. People living in a gated community
working for cisco as account managers, do not have access to private planes, They are your upper middle class.

10. You're killing the messenger here. I was recalling a report
I heard on CBS. The report did not include the occupations of those fleeing or if they were flying on private jets. I couched my words and was not acting in any way as an authority on the subject.

I regard people living in gated communities as being a lot better off than the general population and I would think that's most likely true in Egypt. Since you seem to know more than I do I have a question. Where do the wealthy Egyptians live if not in gated communities?

3. The people protecting their homes from thugs are not the elites.
They are regular people protecting their stuff.

9. I don't equate regular people and gated communities. I would guess that
residents of these communities are more elitist than the general population.

4. This is why we need 30 round mags...

If you want to give up your right to own guns you are either naive, a fool or worse.

5. sorry but a standard mag, actually three of them
and good practice is enough... but since I do not want you to transform this into a gungeon thread... your practice... off to the iggy list you go. I have little time for religious believers... and yes we own them.
