Why all the comparisons of Carter/Shah to President Obama with Mubarak?
Why are parties on both sides trying to say that Egypt is President Obama's Shah moment? I know the right wants the President to continue to support Mubarak and are using many fear factors like the Muslim Brotherhood to sway their constituents. But why are people on the left doing the same?

1. Because they are not on the left? Is the Muslim Brotherhood a concern? Sure. But this is not Iran.

2. 'Cause I think the (R)s want it to be, so they can use it in 2012 like Reagan
used it against Carter to win the election.

3. It's all about the elections cycle
If they can link Carter to Iran collapse and Obama to Egypt it will help the GOP in 2012 elections.

4. we are not going to be giving Mubarik safe haven in Texas this time
Every time people (lefties too) try to draw historical analogies between Obama and Carter they fall apart.
