Is anyone offered Al Arabiya or Al Jazeera from their cable or satellite provider?
I notice MSNBC and CNN are always quoting these sources. Why don't they just let us actually see the feed? Does what those stations report need to be filtered by our media before we get to find out what they are saying? Is someone afraid we will all turn into Arab terrorists if we were to actually watch it ourselves?

I just don't really understand this?

It's got a green background in the "guide" and the next channel is the Metro Chinese Network (which I've never checked out).

I'll have to bounce around and see if I can find it.

3. Because they'd have to change their name to Al Jazeera...
rather than their current names. I think it's more of a competition thing. They don't want their viewers to want any other network but theirs.

17. I'm just guessing...
I wondered if maybe that CNN and MSNBC didn't want to be seen as working with Al Jazeera for appearance's sake. Maybe it would be a negative thing for them, but I don't know how most Americans view Al Jazeera either.

4. One Los Angeles PBS station now carries Al Jazeera US evening news, as well
as the major networks from other international sources. We can get it through the air.

Also the Roku device for streaming to your TV has a station with international news sources, including Al Jazeera.

14. Fortunately, I watch more TV online than I do the actual TV.
Now, if we could just get BBC for real rather than the ridiculous and ad polluted American version. Link is great.

7. We can subscribe to it in Canada
I ordered it a few days ago to get their Egypt coverage.

Don't forget, though, that even Americans (joke!) can get the full AJ English service online:

10. Comcast in MD (and DC) has Al Jazeera.
Channel 275. I didn't know I had it until a few days ago though. There are so many channels now.

It's really cool having AJ on tv though. And no commercials are on it, that I've seen anyway.

13. I listen to Al Jazeera on KPFA/Pacifica Radio via the web
Pacifica is apparently the only radio outlet for AJ in America.

I didn't know what to expect when I first start listening to AJ earlier this year when KPFA began to broadcast it (it began broadcasting in Dec.), but I've been very impressed with it even before the Egyptian revolution.

15. I've mentioned before that there is a 1/2 hour news round up for the ME
produced by someone at LINK that is excellent. It's Mosaic, and it compiles stories from a number of different outlets and provides an English language voice translation. No editorializing at all.

http://www.linktv.org/mosaic

It's cool to get the stories the way they are reported there. Episodes of this program can also be streamed.
