So what's next in Cairo?
If Mubarak is adamant about staying until September, and the people are adamant that he leave immediately, it seems like it all comes down to the army...

3. Hosni should be careful. The army will not shoot civilians, but may one day soon
turn those guns in a different direction rather than support 7 months of stalemate. The Egyptian elite may just tell Mubarak soon that they can't make any money with no tourists and no business of any kind being conducted.

4. I'd play this in Tahrir Square
and let the people decide - will they take it to the next level or back off.
The next 24 hours will be key but I don't see how he stays

6. But it's not just about Mubarak.
Even when most of the institutions and centers of power peeled away (including at some point the banks and multi-nationals), he still has 100's of thousands of party members, security, and info services whose lives and livelihoods depend upon him remaining. This probably includes the air force. They'll feed him bullshit to the very end.

Failing some sort of "Dutch Uncle" chat from the US/EU, I'd guess those are the ones who will escalate over the next few days.
