MESA, Ariz. -- The Mesa Police Department announced Wednesday that it will not be filing criminal charges against Joshua Pearce, 30.

Pearce was under investigation after his 9-day-old daughter was treated at a a Valley hospital for a skull fracture on Dec. 10.

Pearce is the son of Arizona State Senate President Russell Pearce, the high-profile politician who sponsored SB 1070, Arizona's controversial immigration enforcement law.
