The Tea Party angels have gone hardball.

Koch Brothers Hired Goons to Track and Threaten Critics and Reporters?

EXCERPT...

In particular, Vogel noted the events in California over the weekend, with Koch-paid guards tracking resort guests deemed "suspicious," and erecting a blockade to prevent cameras from filming arriving guests.
Inside the resort at the beginning of the conference, "there was an atmosphere almost of paranoia," said Gary Ferdman, a Common Cause official.

Ferdman had reservations at the resort and stayed there Thursday and Friday night. He said he was told Saturday that his lunch reservations at the resort restaurant had been canceled and was urged to check out and leave promptly by a member of Koch's large security detail.

Security manned every doorway and stairwell near the ballrooms where Koch events were held, and threatened to jail this POLITICO reporter while he waited in line at the resort's cafe, after he stopped by a Koch conference registration table.

The resort grounds were "closed for a private function," the resort's head of security, James Foster told POLITICO, ushering the reporter outside, where private security guards, wearing gold lapel pins bearing Koch's "K" logo, threatened "a citizen's arrest" and a "night in the Riverside County jail" if the reporter continued asking questions and taking photographs.

1. Holy Shit -- from one of your links --
Fred Koch, (pronounced Coke) appeared to have a dual personality where he was an active member of the John Birch Society and railed against Communism, while making his first millions working with Stalin's Russia developing oil refineries during the 30's. He and his sister were helpful in the rise of Hitler's dominance leading up to the US declaration of War. Sister Issa was later tried and sentenced to life in prison having been found guilty of making lamp shades from the skin of terminated Jews.
(amazing what you'll find if you dig online)

4. The Roots of Stalin in the Tea Party Movement
The information seems like a fit:

The Roots of Stalin in the Tea Party Movement

Big friends of the Bush family, too. Not that there's anything evil wrong with that.

6. that woman is related to the Cock brothers?
Wow. I knew they were evil, but as blatant as that. :wow:

BTW, they may want to sound refined, pronouncing their name coke, but in my book, phonetics trumps...cock.

I am sickened. I hope this story goes far and wide.

7. Not directly, from what I can find.
Ilse Koch married the NAZI Karl Otto Koch. Apart from same name, it will take a genealogist to make clear the actual connections to the American family.

5. They are the real Untouchables.
Remember how they "skimmed" their "partners" in the oil bidniss, the Native Americans?

Nothing happened to them like what happens to someone who drives off without paying for a fill-up.

16. I stumbled across this the other day, thought you might like a looksee.
The leadership roster for COC's Institute for the 21st Century Energy.

<http://www.energyxxi.org/pages/Leadership_and_Staff.aspx>

I've taken to checking out the list of players at places like this, their bio's always make me a bit green around the gills.

So I'm wondering...if the Koch's stole a chunk of their modern day empire from the native Americans, is there any legal recourse for tribes to ban together in a reclamation effort? I suppose there's no way to tell how much they have now is a result of what they did then or what the chances are of assessing the scope of their ill gotten gains. I'd be happy to stop at 40% of their holdings as restitution for their misdeeds. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know...then I woke up.

10. The look of them then is scarier than now. Maybe it's the years, or that they've trained themselves
to look less predatory.

BTW, couldn't resist checking out Cargill, who the boys are apparently second to. Lovely section on 'Global Procurement'. I do believe the language just comes right on out and says, we're gonna fix the market to make money! That's nothing I guess. I thought I saw a Toyota 'future tech' kind of commercial that finished with the slogan "don't stop"...The nerve of the snark in human sharks.

40. In honor of Doug and Dinsdale Piranha...
In searching for an answer to your question, I discovered this fascinating website:

Colin Penter: "Always keep a diamond in your mind"

Great poems there:

accuracy is essential
we must not be wrong
even by a single one
we are despite everything
the guardians of our brothers
ignorance about those who have disappeared
undermines the reality of the world

-- Zbigniew Herbert

and quotes:

"The pagent is vast, and I clutch at tiny details, indequate." -- Dorothea Lange

Thanks for keeping me moving toward light, Hannah Bell.

23. Fwiw, last fall the AAN had a convoy stop at a local supermarket's parking lot.
There had been some local radio RW propaganda heralding this event. Among other things these AAN(AmericanActionNetwork=AllAmericanNazi) folks were taking a lot of pictures and videos including getting license plates and vehicles...

Btw, these are the deeppocket folks that took down Senator Russ Feingold.

K&R

32. I wonder if the Koch brothers and ol' Mubarak are buddies.... hmmmm
Before the zombie show, state media duly warned of "violence" ahead. "Foreigners" were blamed for the protests. The dreaded Interior Ministry ordered everybody in the streets to "go home" - and so did the Mubarak-approved Grand Mufti of Egypt. And according to an opposition source talking to al-Jazeera Arabic, the "businessmen" - that is, the billionaire cronies of Mubarakism - duly dished out the funds to smash the protests. ---Link

Koch Brothers Hired Goons to Track and Threaten Critics and Reporters?

Media in the line of fire in Egypt, February 3, 2011

Journalists in Egypt – domestic and foreign – are increasingly under siege, with Egyptian authorities detaining reporters and gangs of young men roaming the streets looking for anyone with camera equipment.

Some of the pressure has come from the government: Six Al Jazeera journalists were detained for several hours earlier this week, and while they were eventually released, their equipment remains with the police.

Earlier on Thursday concerns were raised as another three reporters went missing. They have now returned, safe and well, to their hotel.

Two New York Times reporters were reportedly arrested – or "taken into protective custody", as the government termed it.

.....

Spotters stand outside many hotels, watching balconies with high-powered binoculars. When they see balconies with camera equipment or photographers, they use radios to call in the details.

.....

On the eve of the "Day of Departure" (for Mubarak's resignation) protest tomorrow, tonight looms very ominously.
