Corporate Owners Don't Want Democracy In Egypt
Obama will not come out in support of democracy and Mubarak's ouster

only that he should make concessions to protesters.

"...the US under Obama-as much if not more so than under his predecessor-demands that leaders remain in place who will do its bidding even if it means subverting the will of the citizens of a country and maintaining a system that manifestly harms their interests."

"What is clear, then, is that Obama not only prefers the status quo, but the United States will actively subvert democracy in order to ensure that governments that will follow its policies remain in power."

1. Author seems to be working off of Obama's initial statement, not the current one

Which expresses need for transition NOW. Mubarek is done, both Obama and Clinton have signaled he needs to go now.

3. The Fear Is A Power Vacuum
For all those who want Mubarak out now...and I wouldn't shed a tear if he's gone by sundown...it's the bigger question as to who replaces him. Is a military junta to "restore" order preferable? Or total anarchy which could lead to a lot more bloodshed than is currently going on. Who will be responsible for the security of ALL people or have the organization and authority to hold fair elections? While it's romantic to think of a top to bottom revolution where all the evil is purged, but things don't work out so tidy. There's a lot of interests at stake here and I see a very solid but quiet effort in looking for a way to move Mubarak out while maintaining some kind of stability. Anarchy serves no one's purpose but those who want to destroy not build.

4. Corporate owners do not want democracy anywhere if they feel
it restricts them in anyway. That includes here.
