Breaking: Christiane Amanpour Just Interviewed Mubarek.......
Edited on Thu Feb-03-11 02:44 PM by global1
they broke in to the ABC channel here in Chicago and had her on. I came in at the very last of it and missed it. Is there a video anywhere yet?

Here it is: http://abcnews.go.com/

He's fed up and would leave if he could - he says.

Mubarak: 'If I Resign Today There Will Be Chaos.'

1935: ABC reporter Christiane Amanpour has just interviewed President Mubarak, and she tweets: "I asked Mubarak if he was ready to leave office. He said: I am fed up. After 62 yrs in public service I have had enough. I want to go."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12307698

...but that he must stay until Spet. for the good of Egypt.

They said it was not a televised interview.

8. My gut feeling
for the extremely little that it's worth is that he actually means it! A psychology that is way too alien to even begin to understand... but the logical selfish thing for him to do, given that it's at least 90% certain that he does not have along future at the head of Egypt (and neither does his son any longer), would be to give up and leave. Easier and much safer for him andhis family.

6. QUite the scoop! I am glad for
Amanpour, she is polite, professional, and fair, but can be tough. And is very smart. I will unfortunately not be able to watch (I am sure it will be on the ABC nightly news), but it will most likely be generously excerpted on other news programs later.

19. Maybe not, but it wouldn't be what started it - he's already done that by
sending in the goons. Haven't you been watching the news?

Probably, but it isn't much better now and if he doesn't go, the mood of the mob tells me he might find himself hanging from a lamp post tomorrow. That would be bad omen for any nascent democracy to begin.

18. I''m REALLY surprised that he's @ the Palace, and that his son is there, too! It was strongly
hinted or surmised that the son was in London.
