......And I feel *GREAT*.

I was expecting to be routed to a machine but the comments line is really operated by actual *people*.

Pleasant sounding lady. Told her I was calling to bring the president's attention to the extraordinary and inappropriate confinement conditions in which this kid is being held and urged the president to review the Pvt.'s entire legal predicament.

Took less then 5 minutes. ( not including the wrong # I placed to the 718 area code: "Uhh, is this the White House?" "No. Ya' got the wrong #.")

The comments line is open til 5 pm est.

Do it! You'll *feel* better.

1. I am so glad you did that!
You're right. It takes very little time to make that call. The "operators" are volunteers who take our calls. I call very frequently. I always feel a bit better. But I like calling the congress critters even more. I have all their numbers and staff names down and I call both the home district and DC office; just to make sure my message gets through. I often call asking where are the jobs bills and has he renounced his federally subsidized health care. I'm still waiting for those answers; but the staff has to hear what I have to say anyway.

2. I hadn't called the WH since 1990-something..
I almost never call my local electeds. ( OK, I should, but I don't.)

This is different.

5. and I know the numbers by memory!
 Every time I call, it feel like it's something different from the norm. Since we are so out of balance, I call a lot! I find it cathartic to vent...politely of course. I get to use my "listen here, young man" line which is then so much fun to hear them squirming on the other end of the line.

3. I have to agree.
It feels great. Took me about 5, including a nice talk with the operator. If it was the same one, very pleasant.
