Yes... I'd like a double chocolate caliphate... Vente pleeeeease.

Either that, or some ingredient in a processed food.

This candy is caliphate free.

Caliphate... the Frank Luntz word of the week.

Frank is starting to become a caricature of himself.

4. Here what the Caliphate WAS
The term caliphate (from the Arabic خلافة or khilāfa, Turkish: Halife ) refers to the first system of government established in Islam, and represented the political unity of the Muslim Ummah (nation). In theory, it is a constitutional republic<1> (see Constitution of Medina), meaning that the head of state (the Caliph) and other officials are dicate to the people according to Islamic law, which excercises power over their citizens. It was initially led by Muhammad's disciples as a continuation of the political system the prophet established, known as the 'rashidun caliphates'. It represented the political unity, not the theological unity of Muslims as theology was a personal matter. It was the world's first major welfare state.<2> (Although this is also claimed by the Mauryan Empire, 800 years earlier)<3>. A "caliphate" is also a state which implements such a governmental system.

I take it you have not heard it before? Hell the map Glenny showed, (I doubt he knows this) is the greatest expansion of it by the year 732 if I remember correctly when Martell had a hell of a battle with Muslim troops just north of the Pirennes at Tours

I did, I did

17. Because a lot of us like to play with words, the sounds of words.

Language is one of the things that differentiates us from toadstools.

of the problem and not the solution. Language especially the english language is very screwed up. You're making fun of anothers language. Go ahead and play little ones.

22. Nobody is "making fun" of anyone's language.
The sounds of individual words frequently conjure up mental images in the minds of intellectually active people.

As a warming-up exercise, I recommend Poe's "Tintinnabulation of the Bells" poem. If you conclude that Poe is ridiculing English, I recommend cold compresses to the forehead and a bland diet.

Good luck.

27. Part of the problem?
And what problem would that be?

I must disagree with your statement that "Language especially the english language is very screwed up."

Language is fascinating. Many of us enjoy crossword puzzles and other word games. Part of that enjoyment comes in the form of finding other meanings for certain words depending on their sounds.

There are just as many English words with amusing sounds as there are "foreign" words, and having fun with words doesn't contribute to any "problem" other than the truly awful one of using one's imagination.

send some of his goons dressed up like Islamists for the foreign cameras. I noticed BBC highlighting them before and during Friday prayers. The Brotherhood is coming - be scared - terrified!!
