Not DADT or the Dream act. It's like Kennedy and Nixon said to each other after their debate, "compared to Turkey, who gives a shit what the minimum wage is."

1. DADT is a big issue, but I agree, so is escalating tensions between N and S Korea
The news here is so dumbed down that we don't get any reports of issues that effect the world at large.

2. I disagree...I think it's good they are being covered, however
I really think Korea is a dangerous situation and most people have no clue because of our media. Plenty of room to discuss it all, IF the media was doing their job.

3. Yes, DADT is landmark and big news, that's all I was interested in today, but
you are right about most people not having a clue about what's going on in the Koreas. I think our news should have given a lot of coverage to DADT, but they shouldn't be playing down - or ignoring - the situation in Korea.

Gotta get the news from out of the country. Another indication we're not quite the free speech, freedom of the press country we think we are.

This is not America.

5. Well the CBS crowd covered it in minute 25
like emergency meetings are an every day affair.

My source for real news is the BBC, and I no longer expect our corporate news to actually do news,

Then I went to CNN (who for their record did break and interview Richardson. Wolf went along) but hey, what do you want to know about Tiger Woods?

WW III could literally start on Tuesday... but hey. let's use CANNED programing.

This is what the OP is missing. Until our NOOZ decides to do their job.

6. Yep. Thankfully we can access it via the web.
I did a lot of digging when NK hit SK recently. Through foreign sources, I saw footage of both countries and their take on each other. People in NK were referring to SK as US puppets, and the people in SK were furious about their governments response to the shelling. It feels dangerous to me. Not just the same old rumblings that we have heard before.

7. I really haven't been paying that much attention, ASSUMING that it was bluster
and more of the same 'ol, same 'ol.

Now, as always, DUers have alerted me to something that's really important that we're not getting much of from the MSM. I applaud you for looking into it when the "incident" happened. If it "feels" dangerous to you, I give that credence.

NOW I'm going to go check out the NYT piece about surviving a nuclear blast. I ASSUMED it was just put out there to further justify clamping down our our freedoms and rights under the Terra! banner.

Thanks for your input.

8. I haven't read that yet...think I will dig it up too
I could be wrong about the Koreas, but it feels like there is public support for military action in both countries, which makes it dangeous IMO, even if it would be insane. I'd love to hear what Gov Richardson really thinks.

9. The situation in Korea is, I believe, very serious.
I have a Korean neighbor, and he has his radio on the highest volume most of the day these days. I think that the Koreans are very anxious right now.

I also think that we really cannot handle another war at this time. I suspect somehow that North Korea could face a very bad situation if thing continue -- because we just cannot deal with placing more ground troops in yet another country which could mean that we would use other resources, strategies that would not involve a protracted war.

10. I think you are correct. And the fact that several big players have
defense agreements with either NK or SK, adds to the seriousness.

11. Maybe in your narrow world, but some of us can process more then
one or two news stories at a time, thanks. :hi:

13. Most of us can pay attention to more than one story at a time.
However, I do agree that the Korea story is, by far, the most important.
