Can we please stop giving the asshat tea party caucus credit for stopping the Patriot

Here's the list of the 26 repubs who voted against the extension. Most are not tea party caucus members. In any case, it was dems who stopped the extensions. 26 repubs voted nay. 122 dems voted against it.

Mike Fitzpatrick
Chris Gibson
Tom Graves
Dean Heller
Randy Hultgren
Tim Johnson
Walter Jones
Jack Kingston
Raul Labrador
Connie Mack
Kenny Marchant
Tom McClintock
Ron Paul
Denny Rehberg
Phil Roe
Dana Rohrabacher

1. Thank you! ... Why did they need a 2/3 majority in the first place?
Because Republicans were trying to ram it through! OK, they didn't get 100% support, and with Ron Paul around, I don't know why they expected to, but if those 122 Democrats didn't show up and vote, the Republicans would have passed this thing.

Doesn't let the Dems who enabled the original passage of the Patriot Act off the hook, but my god, how are we going to let the Tea Party/Republicans take credit for this? Unbelievable!

3. it's. ridiculous that people here are giving the tea party asswipe caucus
credit for this. As anyone can see, most of the repukes on that list are not tea party caucusers who rode in on that wave in November. Anyway, as I said there were only 26 of them, compared to 122 dems.

5. I'll give them credit for the vote
but that's still, like you said, 26 Republicans and 122 Democrats. Who am I going to give the credit on this one?

This is like saying Republicans passed the health care bill because Scott Brown broke the filibuster.

7. It's just the narrative they want us to swallow. Let's not.
I didn't mean I give the tea party the credit, by the way. I mean the individuals who voted, both Republican and Democrat, I'll give them credit for voting the right way on this. But as a party, it's apparent which party had more support for this. Calling this a "Tea Party" or "Republican" or "conservative" or "libertarian" victory while ignoring the fact that almost five times as many Democrats voted against this than Republicans is not just ridiculous, it's a damn lie.

Not to mention the fact that it's assigning a belief system to the "tea party" that definitely doesn't apply to all of its members. There's a huge split among the ones who are for civil liberties and the ones who are for rounding up all the Muslims... the Ron Paul folks and the Sarah Palin folks, I guess you could say

9. I give my support to people based on how they act, not on which team
jersey they are wearing. I salute all of those representatives who voted against the extension of this unconstitutional pile of bullshit.

p.s. division in the ranks of the lock step repugnant party is a good thing.

10. way to miss the point
take a look at the list. Most of those on it are not tea party members and thus they shouldn't be given the credit. Giving credit to those repubs who voted against it is another thing. And of course I'm sure YOU give credit to the 122 dems who were the ones who made it possible. Or not.

11. I think a war between repugnant factions is all good,
so a narrative that this was a teabag rebellion is a fine narrative even if it is complete nonsense. And yes, I personally sent a handwritten thank you note to each and every representative who voted against this, as I am sure YOU did too.

13. As for notable Teabaggers, where is Bachmann? Did she vote yes, or abstain?
I've already got teabagger associates (and one misguided old friend) crowing about this "victory for conservatism", I would like to know what exactly happened to some of their heros on this one.

15. So
The teabaggers are all FOR Big-Brother Government?

But I thought they wanted freedom and independence? The Patriot Act is against freedom and independence, so why don't they vote against it?

18. thanks for posting it
I was beside myself yesterday with all the news coverage and articles giving them credit (TYT also joined it). Look at list and you see only Ron Paul and Amash were the 2 tea partiers voting NO. The vast majority voted and I said voted YESSSS in support of the bill. Its fail because of people like Kucinich, Sheila Jackson and Ron Paul and not tea partiers.
