Pat Buchanan is the disabled black lesbian of MSNBC.
Occasionally, if not daily, some DUer wonders why MSNBC doesn't can Buchanan for whatever general foulness he has committed. No chance. He is an extremely valuable asset to MSNBC. The proverbial disabled black lesbian in my subject line (admittedly chosen to be provocative) is contrived to represent a single employee who fills at least four "minority" slots. So it is with Pat who is under contract and on call.

They often need a conservative voice, (punching bag, whipping boy, class clown) and is there actually one of those boneheads that you like, and really want to see? I mean they all suck and will get you pissed off. Can they top 'ol Pat at TV skills? Pat really has great depth, and they call him because he can speak from experience about things on his resume:
  • Presidential candidate and campaign adviser
  • Adviser to Reagan
  • Adviser to Ford
  • Adviser to Nixon
  • Racist
  • Anti-Semite
  • Sarah Palin boner time
Pat is a treasure for MSNBC. He is the Washington Generals, the utility foil. Tell ya' I wouldn't miss Scarborough, but as a former congressman, he also has a "double dose of Fokker," as it were. Adds balance to their overall profile.

Anyway, Keith and Rachel are the only anchors that are entertaining, and how much of the same stories do you need? Ever switch to ICarly?

{* NOTE: No disabled black lesbians were harmed during the making of this post. *}

1. I recently commented to a friend...
I wonder why Rachel doesn't have Uncle Pat on anymore. She used to call him "Uncle Pat." And he is quite avuncular.

3. Dunno, but one of Rachel's pre-anchor details was to appear opposite Pat...
...on daytime shows. Remember, she was a regular on Tucker Carlson's short-lived nighttime show, whose slot she now fills. :)

2. I think he's got it bad for sarah palin in the old shriveling zipper department.

I think he spends nights fantasizing about one last roar of passion with her before he settles into his emeritus years. I think he's a dirty old man whose heart and whose fading libido are both sent all aflutter by her and he's mesmerized by her purty face. I genuinely do. It's truly pathetic. I've watched him again and again and he's always like this. He's in love. You will NOT EVER get him to say anything adverse about her. She's his fantasy goddess. It makes him more than willing to forgive her ANYTHING, to take her side ALWAYS, to explain away or chuckle or otherwise dismiss any idiocy she comes up with as folksy and endearing and so real. Because when he looks at her he sees her in his arms. john mcsame too. I will remain convinced til the day I die that it's what tipped the scales for her in his mind when he had to decide on a running mate. Undoubtedly he watched her walk down the hall a few feet ahead of him and thought to himself - "y'know, I could see looking at that for the next four-to-eight years..." I'd bet - all other things being equal, THAT'S what made him pick her. That's what immediately came to mind when I watched him, after he introduced her for the first time, as his running mate after the Dem convention ended and everybody said he did it to steal Barack Obama's thunder from the night before. ALL HE DID, after he stepped back and to the side while she was speaking, was repeatedly to glance sideways at her ass and fiddle with his wedding ring. He did that THROUGHOUT her little speechy thing. AMAZING. Couldn't have been more obvious if he'd put it up in neon in Earth orbit.

4. As a sexegenarian male, I give him the benefit of the doubt.

Again, his drooling and fawning is the perfect visual for MSNBC to offer its viewers. "We'll show you what's happening in conservative minds."

10. Hey, I should also offer my apologies for lending an impression that I was generalizing.

I just noticed that behavior immediately after mcsame had introduced sarah palin for the first time and she made her debut remarks on a political podium and it was a huge deal in the news, coming the next morning after Barack Obama's landmark convention address after making big news - as the first African American to accept his party's nomination for President of the United States. And he introduced her and she stepped forward and he stepped back and to the side, and the leering and oggling began. PLUS the regular intermittent fiddling with his wedding ring. And it might has well have been announced with fireworks for me - I watched my dad react that way around physically attractive younger women from as far back as I can remember. And pat buchanan can only see her through rose colored bedroom curtains, and just will not hear of anything else. She can do no wrong with him. I've just seen it and heard it all my life. That's just how (and who) my dad was. I loved him very much, but he just HAD to oggle. He couldn't help himself. And he'd wear his thoughts all over his face and body language. My poor mom... And when I'm watching pat buchanan and the subject turns to sarah, I swear, it starts to lurch toward the downright maudlin.

Not all older gents are like that, of course. But the glaringly obvious ones do frequently seem to find a way to get on television...

5. "....old shriveling zipper department?"
"...before he settles into his emeritus years???"

Ha-ha! Clearly this is one of the best posts that I've read in a while.

;) - Yes, he is a very dirty old man. And thank you....

7. Actually, I think The Eye is even worse. Buchanan being a paleocon can on rare occasion
say something sensible but fucking Christie is a complete mess and the worst of the lot minus perhaps that hack from Nevada Reich wing radio that Ed has on all the time.

8. I haven't seen Christie on the Ed Show since his pairing up with Lionel...
Lionel's hyperactivity drove him over the edge - I've never seen Barney Google so pissed...

He didn't run for POTUS.
