Egypt
A few moments ago, someone on MSNBC noted that while the top military leaders in Egypt may not take action against Mubarak, there is a good chance that some mid-level military will. It is a valid point: frequently, military coups are conducted by the younger military leaders in the mid-level positions.

It appears that Egypt could be entering an ugly phase. It is a good time for people to contact their elected representatives in Washington, DC – including those in the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the White House – and express support for the people of Egypt.

Peace,
H2O Man

2. Now, that could be possible...
The current political leaders closest to Mubarak are backing the status quo. I could see the mid-level officers of the military making the move if they've got the support of the lower ranks. That's where it counts.

3. It does not bode well right now. The citizens were expecting to hear
Mubarak resign. During his defiant speech, the citiznes chanted "Leave, leave, leave."

They are now marching to the Palace. If the crowd does not disperse as the VP just asked, what will be done to make them go home.

8. that would be terrible
the military has factions too. The Mubarak goons wont take lightly to any such move. And it will spread.

9. Maybe.
It could be bad. Or, it could be good. The dynamics in Egypt are such that a military coup could result in a better transfer of power -- by way of real elections -- can take place.
