When Reagan raised taxes, they had to be raised and
Democrats did not object.

It really isn't any more complicated than that. Reagan was a great patriot because they think he was, and that's the end of it.

8. Different time.

People were more realistic back then in some ways. Politics was anyway.

It's got progressively harder to raise taxes since say Bush 1. Clinton did it but just barely.

The working class wages have stagnated since then too, mostly thanks to the Gipper so sometimes voters hear tax increase they reflexively oppose it even if it won't affect them. Weird.

9. I believe they were mostly regressive taxes
placing more of the burden on the lower classes and easing the tax burden of the rich


Republicans can stomach those
