15,000 people marching in Madison, Wisconsin
Ed Schultz is talking about this right now on is radio program. He asks - if 500 Tea Partiers marched along the Potomac with signs - would it be covered? Yes.

But who is covering the Madison marchers? "Where's the coverage?"

People are being bussed in to support the governor.

11. You're doggon right! They could cover it as if Wisconsin is inspired by Egypt or something like that
Edited on Wed Feb-16-11 12:23 PM by eleny
I know you're not joking. I suggested the same just yesterday to a friend in email. She lives in Chicago and they weren't even covering it in their news. As you know, Illinois is right next to Wisconsin so it's ridiculous.

It's a calculated decision not to cover it. Ed will surely keep banging this drum.

fascinating as the Egypt coverage was, they are continuing to cover other such uprisings. They do plenty of stories about the US and Europe, China, etc. I will keep the board apprised of what/if/when they cover Wisconsin resistence to Bagger takeover of state government.

Current stories:

Bahrain protests

Somali pirates convicted in US

Lybia protests

They are currently alerting on a breaking story of Iranian warships in the Suez Canal heading for Syria. This is being denied by the Egypt Suez Authority that runs the canal. They are being pursued by 2 Israeli warships. I will keep you all informed of this breaking story. Hopefully nothing that will require further alert, but I fear from the rhetoric coming out of Israel/US it will and soon.

Over and out,

Carry on

39. Current's Potential
I've always thought they should bring a super liberal adult in to garner an older progressive audience.

They have some pretty cool stuff on that us boomers would find interesting - I especially like the shorts that viewers send in from all over the world.

Folks, we need to start seeing things this way.

I am increasingly convinced by others' arguments that Progressive-ism begins at the state level.
(And I would add, still survives there - often in the majority)

Bring on the local coverage!

Fox reported on it and Ed played some audio of the two news readers saying how it was terrible, how there could be violence and how they hoped the teachers would fail.

I'm glad that Ed is taking his tv show to Madison tomorrow night.

17. Ed just suggested that the Nat'l Guard might teach the classes since the teachers are marching
I saw the Wisconsin legislator on Ed's tv show last night say that the Guard was only put on notice so they could take over the work of the prison guards if the guards went out.

That's the first I heard that and wondered if it was a backup excuse. I didn't hear that point when he first put the Guard on notice.

Gramps will be dancing a jig up in heaven over this reaction. One of my earliest memories was going to the polls with Grandpa in about 1952 and his setting me up on the counter and explaining to me to never vote for any repuke, as they do not support the working man. He was died-in-the-wool Irish Dem Union activist.

This one's for you Gramps!

Hands off my Social Security!

That was back in NYC in the 1950s with the old voting booths that have the curtain and the big lever.

And I loved imagining you up there and gramps teaching you about serious things!

21. Anyone see this 5000 person march on the Robber Bankers in Chicago?
I marched in it, called my family in Cali to watch because it was a huge, 3 day event. A dismissive Contessa Brewer (MSNBC) interviewed Jesse Jackson for about a minute or two, but they didn't show the march. And that was the only "coverage" I saw.

53. The local press in Madison is great.
Even our Fox affiliate is a good station and gives fair coverage. The public schools in Madison are closed today because the teachers are downtown. I have to say this: Madison has more leftist activists per square mile than any city I know, but the people out there today are just regular people who are angry, and that's what is going to give this movement teeth. Its not just the left.
