St. Cloud man loses penis in industrial accident, files lawsuit against Orlando company
A St. Cloud man is accusing a south Orange County company of negligence after one of its "peeler machines" cut off his penis in an industrial accident last year.

Edgardo Toucet Echevarria, 44, was injured Jan. 13, 2010 at Future Foam Carpet Cushion after he removed a "foam core" from a machine with a steel blade that is used to cut blocks of carpeting foam, according to a new lawsuit.

He was not trained in operating the machine and the maneuver he performed at the request of supervisors activated the equipment, the suit alleges. Echevarria, an employee of Spartan Staffing, was a contract worker at Future Foam.

Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Future Foam for 10 serious violations stemming from the January 2010 incident, spokesman Michael D'Aquino said.

"The surgically sharp steel blade sliced through Toucet's pelvis cutting off his penis and testicles while virtually cutting his body in half," the lawsuit states.

Holy sh*t I didn't read the article, I just assummed it was a million bucks or something.

Geez, that guy needs a better lawyer.

Poor guy, I hope he recovers as much as possible.

(And as a dude, I was OK with reading this story up to the word "peeler" - that caused an involuntary reflex...)

Bill worked in a pickle factory. He had been employed there for a number of years when he came home one day to confess to his wife that he had a terrible compulsion. He had an urge to stick his penis in the pickle slicer. His wife suggested that he should see a therapist to talk about it, but Bill indicated that he'd be too embarrassed. He vowed to overcome the compulsion on his own.

One day a few weeks later Bill came home absolutely ashen. His wife could see at once that something was seriously wrong. "What's wrong, Bill?" she asked.

"Do you remember that I told you how I had this tremendous urge to put my penis in the pickle slicer?"

"Oh, Bill, you didn't."

"Yes, I did."

"My God, Bill, what happened?"

"I got fired."

"No, Bill. I mean, what happened with the pickle slicer?"

"Oh... she got fired too."

I wonder if this accident would have happened in a union shop.

It means Florida is a right to fire state.

....I work construcion, thrown into situations that I may not know anything about. The question is.....Does anyone out there, with a mind that works, know anything about logical thinking? There have been times that I could have been seriosly injured or even killed, but clear thinking and logic have saved my life many times over. Why assume the "victim" is always the "victim" when it could have been his/her own stupidity. Get facts before whining over someone elses mishaps. Thanks.
