At least 13,000 people standing up for Wisconsin workers in Madison (warning: images)
Edited on Wed Feb-16-11 04:35 PM by zulchzulu
I was able to be at the rally yesterday and today and it is absolutely wonderful how so many people are willing to come out on this beautiful day to rally against the filthy Governor Walker and his corporatist, union-busting agenda that is a war on the working people of this state.

I had tears in my eyes many times while documenting the event, if only because so many people from all walks of life are out and full-throated in their support.

As they say, this is what democracy looks like!

From yesterday:

Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_OPQR7RJ0w&feature=player_embedded

The video has many in the rally singing the National Anthem. I was overcome with emotion when that happened.

26. Ed Schultz had at least one on his show this afternoon,
I don't know if any are actually STANDING with The People in the street.
THAT would be something.

If I were a celebrity leader in the Democratic Party,
I would not pass up a chance to STAND with LABOR and Working People.
I would make it a National issue.
But I'm an FDR/LBJ Democrat...NOT a "New Democrat".

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans.
I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans."

52. there's always been money in politics but the last 15 years they've
also had 1000 coordinated radio stations and loudmouths like limbaugh to read think tank talking points from, to diss all things union and get guys like walker through the primary process. all they have to do is regurgitate the talking points these days. Left needs to stop giving those radio stations a free speech free ride. it's like they get to set up soapboxes on every corner and stump in the country, call liberals and teachers and union members thieves and traitors and the Left just sticks their fingers in their ears and walks by. shame on the local sponsors of those stations dedicated to representing billionaires instead of the public.

35. Can that asshole be recalled before he destroys your state?
He seems so fanatically hostile to public employees, and unions in general, that getting him out of office is probably going to be necessary.

It would be a very good thing for the state.

which are the right wing radio stations. there are an avg of 20 per state so there has to be one near everyone (sure sounds like it).

it is team limbaugh that has been dissing the unions for the last 20 years with no one challenging their lies that has gotten us to this point and they need to stop getting a free speech free ride from radio stations licensed to operate in the public interest. and shame on their local sponsors, who ought to be asked WTF.

instead of people bussed in by the Koch Brothers in a fake grassroots movement. These people are the backbone of America. Go Wisconsin, we love and support you here in Los Angeles. The wealthy and powerful caused our country to go broke, and now they want those who had nothing to do with it to pay for it. Wisconsin is saying not on our backs, beautifully.
