Would you like fries with those handcuffs?

An Omaha man was arrested Wednesday afternoon at a local Burger King after he walked into the restaurant from a nearby bus stop, stepped up to the counter and declared he'd arrived to rob the place.

Problem was, a plain-clothes Omaha cop was inside enjoying his lunch and heard the whole thing.

"After overhearing the conversation, the officer ordered the suspect to the ground at gun point and called dispatch for assistance," said Lt. Darci Tierney, a police spokeswoman.

Seth B. Miller, 29, was arrested and booked for attempted robbery. He was unarmed, police said.

Authorities said they believe the man wanted to go to jail.

3. what makes this criminal in particular stupid?
Is there some way "smart" people can tell the difference between a uniformed or a plainclothed cop?

4. "Authorities said they believe the man wanted to go to jail."
One possible scenario - Jail was his best option. Happens fairly often.

Better than many "free" citizens have it these days.

On edit: Oh, yeah -- and health care, too!

2. Recently a local convenience store was robbed. The robber was

plainly visible in the security tapes, and was recognized by other (off duty at the time) store personnel and the police.

He was picked up at his house.

There are robbers who picked the wrong career.

9. I can't help but picture Clint Eastwood
in Dirty Harry calmly walking across the street to the bank robbery scene, hotdog in one hand, .44 magnum in the other.
