DeMint Decries Those Dastardly Muppets of PBS

When Arthur the Aardvark showed up for a Capitol Hill news conference called in defense of funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., was not amused.

Decrying what he called "the Muppet lobby," DeMint said, according to the right-wing Web site, NewsMax:

“Make no mistake,” DeMint wrote, “public broadcasting’s furry friends are political animals.”

Take that, Cookie Monster! Never mind that Arthur is not a Muppet; we can let DeMint slide on that technicality. After all, it seems unlikely that the don of the Senate's Tea Party posse has watched much educational television.

On a more serious note, DeMint and his Tea Party cronies really are bent on ending funding for public television and National Public Radio.
