Kid tells school others threatened him, gets beat, suspended
On Friday, Feb. 4, a sophomore at King George High School went to School Assistant Principal Duane Harrison at the start of the school day and reported that he had been threatened with “getting jumped” at school. At 2:44 p.m., approximately 7 hours later, a dispatcher with King George Sheriff’s Office called 911 to request aid and transportation to the emergency room for the sophomore who was later diagnosed to be suffering from two fractures to his bottom jawbone and one fracture to his top jawbone.

What happened in between the time the sophomore requested assistance from Harrison and the time the sophomore was treated for

his injuries at the emergency room appears to be a series of school personnel failures — failure to follow school policies, failure to take immediate and appropriate action on a reported student-to-student threat, and failure to promptly diagnose a serious injury.

After reporting the threat to Harrison, the sophomore participated in regularly scheduled classes and lunch. As the change-of-class bell rang and the sophomore prepared to leave the cafeteria, he was attacked, thrown to the floor and badly beaten, allegedly by at least three students. Bloodied and shaken, the sophomore was taken to the school nurse, who cleaned up the blood and instructed the sophomore to go to then-Interim Principal Cliff Conway’s office where he was instructed to write a report on the incident. The sophomore and his mother were also informed that he was being placed on a 10-day suspension status for participating in a fight.

1. Sound's like nothing has changed
Protect the bullies, punish the victim. Standard school policy. And they wonder why some kids snap and bring guns to school for revenge.

6. Events like that are why I fully support the right of students to defend themselves without penalty
The courts have been unwilling to intervene in what they consider educational policy but the current approach is clearly a failure.

One of my daughters had a similar experience except is was off campus walking home and she dropped all of her attackers. School still wanted her punished. We fought them an won.

7. That Interim Principal should be a Former Principal forthwith.
Fire his ass today. Then arrest him for failing to report an assault on a child. Schools are mandatory reporters.

8. This is why self-defnse should be promoted
You have impotent school administrators who refuse to do anything. If that happens, then self-defense should absolutely be allowed.

11. Motherfuckers. Jail, fine and fire.
What do you say to this? That I should have hope for humanity? The VICTIM gets suspended? Holy shit, wrath, arrests and firings should reign down on this shithouse prison of a school and FAST.

Nice to see some "blame the victim" people have arrived. Classic. The kid was supposed to handle a 3-on-1 beatdown HOW? Is he armed? Is he Chuck Norris in his prime? If he could have handled himself, logic might dictate that he wouldn't have had to ask for help, YA THINK?

12. When I was young, I got in fights at least one a week. I told school officials they were
FUCKING COWARDS, all the time. They never tried to help me. I told teachers I would leave fifteen minutes early every day as they were cowards that would do nothing with threatened violence IN THEIR CLASSROOMS. I would get taunted, as the teacher taught. Broke several limbs on punks.

After a principle said to me in parent conference about an upperclassman throwing bricks at me, you know, sticks and stones may break bones, but names never hurt, my parents told me they would support me as I did what I must. If I didnt fight back, they would beat me. So, I beat the shit out of MANY punks. Soon, I was fighting guys I had never met. They wanted to beat the skinniest kid in school and get a notch on their belt. Unfortunately for them, I could stomp anyone but giants.
