What the Republican U.S. House Representatives Did While You Were Asleep
Edited on Sun Feb-20-11 02:37 AM by Tx4obama

Excerpt:

Here are some of the things your House of Representatives did early this morning:

* Voted to strip funding from just about every EPA project, including air quality, emissions, and water pollution monitoring.
* Defunded NOAA
* Stripped funds to administer the Affordable Care Act.
* Eliminated funds for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
* Continued $53 billion in oil subsidies
* Tried to eliminate Davis-Bacon rules for government projects (that failed)
* Stripped federal workers of their salaries in positions within agencies targeted for defunding

Of course, yesterday they defunded Planned Parenthood, FCC allocations for enforcement of Net Neutrality rules, and the entire Affordable Care Act.

4. And that is how you deal with these kind of people
You don't compromise with them, you don't persuade them over to your point of view. You destroy them or they destroy you. It really is that simple.

6. I've finnaly learned
that this is a real war of ideas. The Republicans are fighting us with everything they can muster and we need to fight back as well. No more holding back for fear of offending them, no more compromising in the name of bi-partisanship. We have to fight them till the bitter end.

5. NOAA was NOT defunded.
They did cut the funding to move the NOAA marine operations from Puget Sound to Newport.

8. I was gonna say... de-funding NOAA would be mind bogglingly stupid... and without political use
either...

I assume this is just a de-funding of a move of some oceanic monitoring operations near Seattle? (Which, in itself, sounds pretty stupid... some sort of brainchild of whoever had Jindel mocking volcano monitoring, just before one blew in Alaska?)

9. I have no idea on the wisdom or lack thereof of the move.
I just objected to the lie about NOAA being defunded. How can we expect to win if we make just blatant lies?

11. I've heard rumors for years that NOAA was targeted for "privatization" --
a.k.a., replacement of an essential service with something much inferior at limitless cost.

12. They are going to kill people,
but big oil gets to keep their $53 billion dollars.

They have their priorities. :grr:

They obviously have their marching orders too. They know exactly what they are doing, and they're all marching in lock-step.
