'We Stand With You as You Stood With Us': Statement to Workers of Wisconsin by Kamal Abbas of Egypt's Centre for Trade Unions and Workers Services
About Kamal Abbas and the Centre for Trade Unions and Workers Services:

KAMAL ABBAS: I am speaking to you from a place very close to Tahrir Square in Cairo, "Liberation Square", which was the heart of the Revolution in Egypt. This is the place were many of our youth paid with their lives and blood in the struggle for our just rights.

From this place, I want you to know that we stand with you as you stood with us.

I want you to know that no power can challenge the will of the people when they believe in their rights. When they raise their voices loud and clear and struggle against exploitation.

No one believed that our revolution could succeed against the strongest dictatorship in the region. But in 18 days the revolution achieved the victory of the people. When the working class of Egypt joined the revolution on 9 and 10 February, the dictatorship was doomed and the victory of the people became inevitable.

We want you to know that we stand on your side. Stand firm and don't waiver. Don't give up on your rights. Victory always belongs to the people who stand firm and demand their just rights.

We and all the people of the world stand on your side and give you our full support.

As our just struggle for freedom, democracy and justice succeeded, your struggle will succeed. Victory belongs to you when you stand firm and remain steadfast in demanding your just rights.

We support you. we support the struggle of the peoples of Libya, Bahrain and Algeria, who are fighting for their just rights and falling martyrs in the face of the autocratic regimes. The peoples are determined to succeed no matter the sacrifices and they will be victorious.

Today is the day of the American workers. We salute you American workers! You will be victorious. Victory belongs to all the people of the world, who are fighting against exploitation, and for their just rights.

3. Maybe it will "inspire" the teachers' union leadership to stand strong
instead of wimp out.

But I'm not holding my breath.

15. I don't know what's going to happen, but all I know is that 2011
is starting out to be the year of the people in spite of "TPTB". Tunisians and Egyptians know what's going on in Iran, Iranians know what's going on in Libya, Libyans know what's going on in Yemen etc and our friends in Egypt are standing strong in spirit with our friends in Wisconsin. We'll see where it goes from here. :grouphug:

8. That's incredible. The people of the world are uniting!
The Corporations were Global, now the people are going Global. They defeated us because they operated in each country and isolated those populations, making them victims of their greed and corruption. They recognized no borders, had no allegiance to any country, just wealth and resources, that's all populations of people meant to them.

But finally, the people are going global too. The people were never enemies, but they profited by dividing people. Not any more, it's going to much more difficult from now on to turn people against each other. This was no a WOT or anything else, it was a class war which they had the advantage of. I wonder if they understand what is going on and how much harder it's going to be for them from now on?

Thank you Wikileaks for exposing the corruption and for proving how little the people meant to them. And thanks to Anonymous also, for taking on the bad guys when they went after the good guys.

We live in exciting, historical times.

United we stand!

9. Personnally
I think they will regret the day they let the Internet become available to everyone. Its the one form of communication they can't control.

I guess they weren't as smart as they thought they were.

Still, the same thing was probably said about the printing press and other technological developments. Eventually they will learn how to manipulate it, which I'm sure they are working on right now. But this time, it was a moment in history where there was an advantage to the people, especially the young, and they took it.

And we had all those revelations from Wikileaks, which here have been hardly noticed, but people in these countries were reading what their governments were up to, and got confirmation of what they had known, but could not confirm.

A confluence of things seems to have contributed to the people being able to win this time.

It should be a better world in many ways as a result, but the people will have to be vigilent, the bad guys are always working on how to control things, while the rest of us relax once we think we're okay for a while.
