"The Ohio AFL-CIO and former Gov. Ted Strickland are calling on all supporters of the rights of public employees to bargain collectively and continue providing vital community services to a gigantic rally at the Statehouse Tuesday at 1 pm. The action will protest SB 5, a vicious Republican bill to repeal the 27-year-old public employee collective bargaining law. Thousands have already converged on the capital at hearings on the bill, which began over a week ago. The hearings will resume at 4 pm Tuesday and continue through the evening.
Many unions, both in the public and private sectors, will be sending buses from all corners of the state. OAPSE, the union of public school employees, is sending 15 buses from seven cities. Other unions, including TWU, SEIU, UAW, OFT have buses going as well.
In Cleveland buses gotten by the North Shore AFL-CIO will leave starting at 10:30 am and continuing up until noon from Laborers Local 310, 3250 Euclid Ave. You are urged to call 216-881-7200 Monday to reserve a seat."
