CORPUS CHRISTI - Several local smoke shop owners are teaming up to fight a new ordinance that bans pipes and other smoking devices associated with drugs.

As for pipes and other smoking devices, Captain John Houston says those items are already deemed illegal, but he and his officers don't plan on enforcing that part of the ordinance until Monday, February the 28th.

Houston also said he and his officers "Won't be going to shops to talk or discuss the ban anymore." They will be strictly enforcing the new ordinance and all violators will be cited and fined for any illegal "paraphernalia" they find.

On Monday, all of the shops still had pipes and water pipes on their shelves, ready for sale. But K2 and Spice was no where in sight.
