WI assembly voted WITHOUT Democrats - BEFORE Dems left the state
http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/video/html_1bcf2092-3c71-11e0-a8b0-001cc4c002e0.html

Part of this was on Racheal Maddow's show Monday , but this link allows you to see the whole session. Democrats were told the session would begin at 5, but just before 5 as Democrats were arriving, the vote was ending. Watch the full session to hear Rep. Gordon Hintz, who heard about the bill from a radio ad from DC before he even had a copy of the bill. (just past the half way mark on the "full program" version.

THIS should be on every network!

1. Not quite. The Dem Senators had left the state. This was the Dem Assembly.

2. Which basically establishes that there is no legal problem with their absence now, right? nt

7. If they proceeded with business without them before, what would be their legal claim in sending
a sheriff after them now?

10. You're confusing the Assembly with the Senate in the bicameral legislature
The Senators are holding out; there are enough D Senators to prevent a quorum as long as they're gone. The Assembly continues to meet and vote; there are not enough D Assembly members to prevent a binding vote in that house.

4. Different body in the WI legislature.
It's the Democratic senators who have left the state. You're looking at the Wisconsin House.

6. Yet the thread continues to get recommendations.

Nothing against the OP, but the headline is confusing and shouldn't be Greatest Page material in my opinion.

9. My apologies for confusion
I don't think my brain can process the insanity any more...

Fact remains, they attempted to vote without the Democrats. Lied to keep them out.
They had ads (paid for from outside WI) supporting the bill before Democrats saw the bill.
This SHOULD get attention. Why this is the kind of thing the Tea Party would be upset about....OK maybe not. Wrong peoples' rights.

11. Not a good start on DU. The title is misleading.
If you're out of the editing period, please alert Admin on your own thread and ask them to retitle this more appropriately.

- Thanks

14. Sounds like more than the Senate needs to be recalled
I wish I could get to the solidarity rally in Montpelier, but the sidewalks aren't melted. Until the sidewalks melt, I'm pretty much grounded (wheelchair user).
