1. I'm not sure I like the fact...
...that this ONE business is getting so much free advertising.

2. So YOU
Edited on Tue Feb-22-11 08:20 PM by Lefta Dissenter
go run your business from the square!

(that's the nicest thing I could come up with to say)

by the way, have you donated money yet? Edited to add that you could run a few cases of water over there to the protesters.

edited again to say that the OP has subject line RE Ian's and body of message with Willy St. Coop.

Which is it you don't like? Or do those TWO count as ONE in Fox... I mean in your counting system.

3. They're pretty awesome...
other places have been getting some, too, but it seems Ian's was the first to take food orders from over the phone and just start handing out the pizzas to the protesters.

Good for them.

12. Actually Ian's gave away their end-of-night leftover pizza
Edited on Tue Feb-22-11 08:45 PM by eowyn_of_rohan
one night, in response to a request from a protestor in the Capitol. From their site:

"On Tuesday night/Wednesday morning we took a late-night call from folks still over at the Capital; they were wondering if they could have our end-of-night leftovers. Well, of course -- we're always glad to hand out food at 3:30am!"

Most ALL pizza places have a lot of Za left over come closing time, and if nobody takes it, it would be wasted.

Ian's is one of many great food service and/or delivery businesses in Madison who are loyal to their community, and could use a little extra publicity and income!

Glass Nickel Pizza & Willie Street Co-op are 2 others I know have been running a lot of food and drink to the protestors.

Cheers!

4. I'm not sure that I like the fact that you aren't sure you like the fact that
one business is getting so much free advertising.

Why not MYOB?

These guys are doing a good thing at some risk. It wouldn't take much for the Governor to have them shut down on "public health" reasons. Sure it would be wrong--and possibly illegal--but can you see things like that slowing Walker down?

As soon as I get paid tomorrow I'm going to call in a large pie with sausage. Just because.

6. What's stopping other businesses there in the square
Edited on Tue Feb-22-11 07:57 PM by EC
from doing the same? Free enterprise. Several people have looked for places that would deliver fruit or drinks, but I don't know if they were successful. Other businesses may not be willing to deliver.

This is the way businesses were promoted in the "old" days...word of mouth, you had to go the extra mile or have a really good product.

9. but i bet you have no problem with whores like walmart, att, verizon, etc
and the welfare they always demand from working people.

and nobody is stopping you or others from doing the same thing. findo ther businesses in the area who would agree to do the same. in fact this place said they only do pizzas when people have requested other items be send. so that actually leaves a lot that others can offer that this place isn't able to.

7. Yeah, they had to stop taking orders by 5:30pm today - compared to 9pm yesterday.
Just when I was worrying about whether the momentum was growing.

Let's make sure to keep the momentum GROWING - EXPONENTIALLY. If we're starting to gain ground we need to build upon that like there's no tomorrow (because for the American Labor Movement, there truly ISN'T a tomorrow)! They talked about it on Cenk's show on MSNBC (I'm watching a replay of it now). Jane Hamsher (sp?) of Firedoglake said Florida's governor has started backing off, just as mitch daniels is now doing in Indiana. THAT is GOOD NEWS. Backbone WORKS!

20. Thanks! Let's all keep this momentum going!
Really added some zip to my step when I heard that the governor of Florida was starting to get cold feet on this kind of clampdown on unions, just as mitch daniels in Indiana now has. And the poll numbers aren't good for walker either. The occasional posts I've seen here regarding word that he may have jumped the shark on union-bashing and some within the GOP are starting to get nervous about this - it ALL gives me hope!

AND also I like seeing other signals - like the post on Ian's Pizza FB page announcing they weren't taking any more orders as of 5:30 this afternoon local time. Yesterday the cut-off time was 9pm. They're reaching critical mass each day - earlier!
