He said he didn't even know about the citation which would make me think that he wasn't there and got arrested. I'm wondering (hoping) he is part owner or something of the massage parlor where the sting was.

I live in his district in Wisconsin.

101. The way I understand it, he either got or asked for a hand job in
a hand job type massage parlor in Appleton, where they have a statue of Joe McCarthy at the courthouse. Probably the cops had the masseuses over a barrel and made them wear a wire or more likely bugged the rooms. There is a house of prostitution/"massage parlor" within a block of the State Capitol in Madison that has been there at least since the late '60s, it should be on the National Register of Historic Brothels. This is no big deal in my opinion.

Can you give me a link since you seem to have just come in here to shit on my thread. Sorry if it offended you. Now can I see the link where Bernie Sanders is screaming into the mic about how criminal these Wisconsin proceedings are?

Edit: I was speaking about the Wisconsin issue if that was unclear. But if you want to make a case for Democrats, there are thousands of elected Democrats in this country. And I can count on one hand the number of them that I have seen sufficiently pissed off. Yeah Sanders is one. Wiener is another. Grayson and Fiengold, but they're gone.

Especially since I already labeled him as democratic in the previous sentence. Had I said "Democratic" that could have meant any politician in a Democratic society not a specific party. But hey don't let that get in the way of your work in rooting out the commies Mr McCarthy.

32. No, it's not...
dude. "Democrat" is a noun. "Democratic" is an adjective. I am a "Democrat". I don't belong to the "Democrat" Party, I belong to the "Democratic" Party. The majority leadership in the Senate is the "Democratic" leadership, not the "Democrat" leadership. When we introduce a bill, we refer to it as a "Democratic" measure, not "Democrat" measure. A "Democrat" who holds office, is a "Democratic" politician, not a "Democrat" politician.

The GOP calls us the "Democrat" party because they seek to deny us the goodwill associated with the word "democratic". What I find odd here is your insistence on trivializing this. What I find bizarre is your reference to me as "Mr. McCarthy" and your accusation that I am somehow "rooting out commies", when you are employing a RW GOP slur and I merely called you on it.

If you can't see what I am saying, we can have round two and I'll explain the novel concept of capitalization to you.

75. I think they are asking for something deeper than simply anger.
In a psychological sense, anger is a far better motivator for an individual to get something done than despair or apathy or resignation or even simple indifference. People are tired of politicians who practice double-talk, and I think they'd rather have somebody who speaks plainly and bluntly, and perhaps sometimes, angrily about the major problems affecting us all. It helps clue in people that some politicians at least are as willing to express some emotion when dealing with the problems the same way many families deal when they sit around the table wondering how they are going to pay next month's bills and rent, and most of us would want politicians who can relate, and sometimes, vent with us.

92. The noticeable lack of anger hasn't accomplishe much!
So I'm all for some 'change' now. Polite Democrats get trampled all over by Republican bullies.

Righteous anger, enough of it from enough Democrats should send the bullying cowards running. They count on Democrats never wanting to appear to be angry and they play on that over and over again.

THIS is how Democrats need to behave from now on. They sure have enough reason to be anger. Someone needs to be.

80. How about this.
His anger and passion may not actually serve to help or solve the problem at all, but what it DOES do is show his constituents and other Democrats that there is someone in government who actually gives enough of a shit about what's happening to get riled up and passionate about it. Someone who is riled up, passionate and who gives a shit is more likely to be someone who will actually FIGHT FOR OUR CAUSES!! Instead of someone who will utter polite platitudes, drone on about bipartisanship and end up GIVING AWAY THE FARM in negotiations! We want someone who "gets it"!

Maybe we are sick of wish-washy political correctness in the face of attacks on everything we believe in. We want someone with a fire in their belly who believes in the same things we do. That's why we cheer for these Dems who show us their passion and anger. It feels good for a change!

106. Unfortunately, people need to be told how to feel.
When voters see their politicians looking hopeless or unmoved, that's how they generally feel. When they see them angry and defiant, they get inspired. There is no question that the modeling behavior or symbols of authority is meaningful to people. Basic sociology fact. Look at Hitler's persuasion--do you think he would have gotten people to do what they did if he were Al Gore?

129. OH INDEED! Placid, pleasant demeanor
is always an inspiration! It conveys SO MUCH conviction and determination. Why go and demonstrate in Madison??? Why not just sit at home and maybe knit some hats with a "Liberals Forever" slogan on them? Yeah, can't you just SEE the impact of Rep Anthony Weiner sending out polite memos to his colleagues instead of heatedly making his point on the floor of Congress??? How decisive! How moving! How "lost in the shuffle" those proper missives would be.
Throw shoes - beat on the podium - insinuate your opponent is an idiot, or just raise your voice! In this day of 24/7 din, if you don't make a spectacle, you might as well go home and meditate.
Where the HELL is our pacifist president on the plight of beseiged unions right now? Sure he made news with his stance on the definition of "marriage". But to me, given Labor's under assualt, that's like the GOP going after abortion while folks wonder where their "It's all about jobs" convictions are!
I'm ANGRY about that!

95. What has not being angry accomplished?
This is what it accomplished, Democrats constantly being shoved around by bullying, cowardly Republicans. I say we show them that they need to be scared of Democrats, respect them and if they don't, the public will be informed in no uncertain terms what they've been up to. No more weasel words, when they lie, call it a lie. When they are working for big business, expose it, angrily if necessary.

Democrats don't know how to fight, but this guy does, now he needs companay. He got the attention at everyone at our house. Rambling polite Dems bore people and they tune out, but no one tuned this guy at our house.

Tell me this. Did you know that the Democrats in Wisconsin were not even allowed to see the bill? Did you know the Republicans were trying to hold a vote without the Dems by telling them the wrong time for the vote? Did you know that the public was being shut out of speaking?

I did not know any of these things, because everyone is too busy walking on eggshells. Now I know. ANd it's because this guy was pissed off. Do you think this rant would have hit the net if he had spoken quietly and calmly?

53. TRANSCRIPT for those who need it in written word

Gentleman from the 54th.

REPRESENTATIVE GORDON HINTZ (DEMOCRAT):
Thank you. Because it was actually about 15 minutes that I first—ah, ago, ah, that I pressed my button, would have made it about, I guess 4:57, 4:56, after I heard. I got an email from the Gentleman of the 69th that said be here by five o’clock, so it was three minutes to five, and as I was walking here from caucus, saw that we were actually voting. Again, when you send an email, Gentleman from the 69th, that says five o’clock, you know, five o’clock means five o’clock. But once I heard you guys already decided to vote on things, well then I realized that, you know, why would that happen? And then I’m like, oh, that’s right; it’s consistent with how everything else has been handled. Like last Friday morning, when I was driving to a school business administrator’s meeting in De Pere. And I turned on the radio and there was an ad saying, “Hey, support Governor Walker’s Budget Repair Bill. Paid for by the Club of Growth.” Well guess what, I had never been given a bill. I hadn’t even been given talking points yet. And I know we’re in the minority, but I’m elected the same way you are elected by the same public from the State of Wisconsin, and I deserve better than that. And it’s bad enough, it’s bad enough that I had to hear it from a radio ad from Washington DC, and then show up at a meeting with no details. But in the..

SPEAKER FITZGERALD: Source: LYBIO.net
Could the Gentleman hold his remarks? We request that the gallery refrain from any indication of support or opposition to any of the comments on the floor, so I don’t have to clear the gallery, please? Gentleman from the 54th.

REPRESENTATIVE Gordon N. Hintz:
Thank you, Mr Speaker. So, what we heard, that we may or we may not get an emergency bill, we may get a repair bill, I found out from the radio. From a Washington DC interest group. What does that have to do with Wisconsin? And then, it’s 144 pages. And then, we get briefed on Monday and I’m told we’re gonna vote on it on Thursday or Friday. And then when we ask for public hearings, well, and the public wants to speak out, you cut them off. This isn’t how we do things to each other. It’s not how things get introduced, and it’s just simply not what we do to the public. If you want to jam through a bill, you got to sit through the messy process that is democracy. Source: LYBIO.net When we sit there in 4th grade and we learn about Wisconsin government and we learn about US government, we learn about how amazing it was that they came together. But we also learn that it was bloody, that people had to fight for it, and they wanted to make it hard to do big things. You’re supposed to be a deliberative body. You’re supposed to have discussions. And you’re supposed to be transparent, because the public matters in all of this input. And then, when we keep the hearings going and we honestly look at the bill, it’s 144 pages, we find out that there’s things like $47 million of federal aid cut. And my city writes me and said ‘yes, we will have to close our bus system.’ And when I have an honest amendment to carve that out, and I want to get it submitted, we show up here, and you guys are gonna vote without us three minutes before you told us to be here. Are you seeing a pattern here? I find out from the radio from some group I don’t even know who it is. And then when the public wants to talk you cut ‘em off. And then when we show up to vote, when we show up to vote, I am elected, I get it, I am in the minority, you’re right there’s only a bunch of us. But if you want to know why there are 35,000 people here, look at yourself in the mirror. And how about a little respect, at least to your colleagues?

Gordon Hintz – Representative On The Budget Repair Bill. I deserve better than that. And it’s bad enough, it’s bad enough that I had to hear it from a radio ad from Washington DC, and then show up at a meeting with no details. Complete Full Script, Dialogue, Remarks, Saying, Quotes, Words And Text.

Wisconsin state representative cited for sexual misconduct
By Emi Kolawole

Wisconsin State Rep. Gordon Hintz (D) was arrested Feb. 10, accused of sexual misconduct -- a violation of a City of Appleton ordinance. The charge comes in connection with a massage parlor investigation.

The 37-year-old lawmaker says he is willing to take responsibility for his actions after the citation came to light, according to a report by the Chicago Tribune. Hintz e-mailed a statement to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, in which he writes "I am willing to take responsibility for my actions," but going on to say that his "personal situation is distracting from the much more important issue facing the state."

According to Appleton police, the citation was issued in conjunction with an ongoing investigation into Heavenly Touch Massage Parlor.

their smear campaign. Let me spell this out for you. When the GOP calls us the "Democrat Party", the subliminal message is that we are not democratic. It's a successful campaign and they drive it home with consistent repetition.

When the OP used the phrase "Democrat politician", I merely called him on it and explained the etiology. Rather than admit a simple mistake and correct it, he engaged in a comical defense, claiming I was wrong. Except, I am not wrong. And, I wasn't offended by a simple mistake. What I find offensive is the trivialization of the mistake after the fact.

Why does the GOP have to do anything to demonize us when, intentionally or not, we do their work for them? If you want to deny this is important, that is your right. It's also shortsighted.

135. Well, I am aware of the supposed intentions of the rightwing
when they incorrectly use a noun where an adjective belongs. Whatever their intentions are they appear to have failed, as most people simply attribute their misuse of the word to ignorance, much like their spelling mistakes.

Whenever I am talking to rightwingers I simply correct their grammar and suggest they learn how to spell also. This puts them in a position of having to 'explain'. So far, this has worked by putting them on the defensive. If they are trying to make a point but no one sees it it is not a very effective strategy.

Democrats should never allow themselves to be on the defensive. If someone attacks you with a stick, instead of running away, you grab the stick and turn it on them, then it is THEY who are on the defensive. That is what I do to rightwingers who think the use of the words 'democrat party' is some kind of weapon. Simple take it out of their hands and force them into a position of trying to defend it.

I don't worry too much about the right other than to remove their Reps from office. I just don't waste time on trivia, or their silly games which are all done to divert attention away from far more important issues, as in this case.

The issue here is that a Democrat went after them very successfully and the more Democrats who do that, the more they will whine and squirm and act like the cowards they are.

When someone tries to insult you, but you are immune, that is very frustrating to them. Democrats always reacting to these things gives them power. They want to 'get to' democrats. Don't let them do it, accuse them of being unable to spell or use nouns and adjectives correctly.

As Shakespeare said 'a rose by any other name would smell as sweet'. Just turn it on them and after a while they will be afraid to show their ignorance and simply avoid using that particular insult. It works.

137. I never underestimate the enemy. I also refuse to empower them
by playing their silly games. I keep my focus on what they are doing to this country and at the bottom of that list are the names they call people. That is simply childish and not deserving of the time and space given to it by fearful democrats. Democrats need to be fearless, not shaking and frightened by silly, schoolyard games. As I said, this issue is easily handled if done properly.

Far more important is their attempt to undermine this democracy with legislation such as the Patriot Act and the MIC bills that should never have passed in a Democratic nation. But since they have, they need now to be rescinded as quickly as possible, no matter how many scare tactics about 'terra' the anti-Constitutional Republicans try to use. They need to be confronted about their anti-Constitutional laws, forcefully and often. We do not need and should never, 'compromise' away our rights. But all too often our own party has aided and abetted these thugs, 12 Democratic Senators eg, voting along with them to elimate Habeas Corpus. That was shameful.

I'm busy with these issues, which they were prefer we ignore while we beg them not to call us names. I don't care what names they call us, I care what legislation they are passing while everyone is busy with the trivia they conjure up.

they call us the "Democrat Party"? Do you think they call us that merely to irritate us? Their audience is large numbers of people who can't figure out that the GOP game is to delegitimize the Democratic Party.

For you to mischaracterize my position as begging the GOP not to call us names shows just how well their strategy is working.

139. Did I mention you somewhere?
Just went back to check, no, you were not even in my thoughts as I wrote that comment.

Who is their audience? Fox News viewers who are so ignorant they probably think that using a noun in place of an adjective is merely using 'correct grammar'.

Who do YOU think their audience is and who in their right mind is going to be bothered about a bunch of undereducated (because they don't believe in education) morons mispelling words and misusing grammar?? Anyone we care about? I don't think so.

See how it works when you let it bother you? You have completely ignored the real issues I mentioned in my comment while you focus on this non-issue. Now how could we get these anti-Constitutional laws rescinded if we waste time on this nonsense? What exactly have they accomplished, in your opinion, by their use of bad grammar?

THEIR LAWS, otoh, have seriously threatened this democracy.

stupid either-or arguments which ignore the fact that one can be both concerned about the issues you raise AND the successful GOP campaign to delegitimize the Democratic Party.

In the meantime, do you really think Mitch McConnell only calls us the "Democrat Party" when he's on Fox News? If you want help on the issues you care about, don't you think it might make sense if more Democrats were elected? Do you not see how the GOP substantially thwarts that by demonizing us in calling us the "Democrat Party" and telling easily duped people that we support the "death tax" and oppose "tax relief"?

The GOP is a very sophisticated adversary and we're only going to beat them by fighting smarter. Your trivializing this is not helping.
