So important, I have to post this as a separate thread: Koch imposter pranks Gov. Walker...
Edited on Wed Feb-23-11 09:09 AM by originalpckelly
This is important for two reasons:
1. Governor Walker mentions "private" meetings during the call, in the first half, shortly after 8 minutes into the call. What was discussed at the "private" meetings? Does he mean private meeting with this Koch brother being impersonated? What the hell is that about? Does this show a conspiracy? Is this improper for a government official? :wow:
2. When the agent provocateur strategy was mentioned to him, he said he'd already considered it. THEY ALREADY THOUGHT OF SENDING PEOPLE IN TO STIR UP THE CROWD AND GET THEM TO DO SOMETHING VIOLENT/ILLEGAL!!!!!!!! Oh my GOD! :wow:
3. You might be able to nail his on ethics, because he sounds like he's willing to take an offer to have a good time at David Koch's expense, which might, if they have any campaign finance laws, be illegal. :P

Original thread is here:

This could be a very large scandal, if indeed this was not a completely fake call, and that really was Governor Scott Walker. Sounds like him. Prankgate has begun.

The call seems real, and if it is, then it was completely legal because both Wisconsin and New York are one part consent states. Meaning that only one person has to agree to recording the conversation, so that one person can record it without the other one knowing.

2. No, this will be picked up.
This is funny as hell, shows how crooked the dude is, and it will be a major story.

Someone needs to download that so that there's always a copy available.

3. If it's real, it will be picked up. It's only a matter of time.

It probably won't be the firestorm some might hope for, but it would certainly get coverage.

1) - If they had private meetings, why doesn't he recognize the guy's voice?
2) - I'm not sure how much it helps to say that he "considered" something if he then rejected the idea and defended that decision to a guy with so much influence.
3) - That would be a hard case to prove even if it would be an ethical violation to accept such. You usually have to actually accept the gift before it's a problem.

All that said... it's still hilarious and certainly can't help him.

5. as per #1 . . . it takes time and constant hearing to recognize
someone's voice unless it has some unusual characteristic. at least it does for me.

6. Right... but he either knows the guy well enough to have secret meetings or he doesn't.
I haven't listened to the recording, but from the transcript it looks like a guy who is new on the stage of national politics who is awed by getting a personal call from a multi-billionaire.

Funny as heck... but it doesn't appear particularly damning.

Though again... it sure ain't gonna help.

7. The most damning thing is the admission that he'd thought through agent provocateur stuff.
He's not thinking on his feet there, those are well laid plans that he considered. That's fucked up.

9. Not when he specifically rejected it.
Edited on Wed Feb-23-11 09:48 AM by FBaggins
And then defended WHY he rejected it to the billionaire who he presumably wants to kiss up to.

Your description of what he "considered" doesn't match what I had read. Is there a longer transcript somewhere? "Planting some troublemakers" is a long way from stirring up the crowd to violence.

13. Actually, the original thread (OP) is here ->

The one linked in this OP (this current thread) is one of the responses in that eaarlier thread.

From this OP, there is conjecture "The call seems real, and if it is...." The 'seems' and 'if' suggest there may be doubt, but the tone of the OP is certainty, and example being "So important...."
