John Nichols of the Nation was just on Thom Hartmann
Edited on Wed Feb-23-11 12:41 PM by senseandsensibility
He really thinks this "prank" call is important and could lead to an investigation. I enjoy his work and respect him tremendously. However, just a couple of days ago he was on Ed and said he knew Walker personally. He praised him and said Walker does not want to be in this situation. He basically said that Walker is a nice guy. I found out later that Walker has a history of union busting. Kind of confused about Nichol's statements.

Now Nichols is calling for an investigation and saying that this conversation is a game changer.

6. He's a well known progressive writer for the Nation,
which is a very progressive magazine. I googled his image to make sure that it was the same guy. Last week on Ed he was very complimentary about Walker personally, implying that Walker was a reluctant participant in this. He sounded totally different just now.

7. Yes, I felt he was too soft on Walker too.
If he's changed his mind that's good but it seems a bit late, you know?

10. Yes, I was really surprised by that. Until that time I thought he (Nichols) was
great. How could he have been so wrong about him.

He said he "knew" him for many years and that he really isn't the kind of guy who did things like he is doing now yet when I read up on Walker in Milwaukee he sounded like he was using the same tactics then as now so what is Nichol's talking about?

12. There's plenty of evidence that this is Walker's MO.
Just goes to show you that there are deny-ers everywhere so we can't always depend on the journalists to get it right.

14. I wondered , even at the time, if
Nichols was trying in some way to appeal to Walker's better nature over the airwaves, since he had this personal relationship with him. I guess it didn't work.
