Shouldn't the leader of the free world make a statement on the situation in Libya?
Or is Obama still busy preparing his statement on Mubarak?

The only statement Obama has made was a week ago on how violence against protestors should not be used. Since then he has remained silent although the administration assures us he is being constantly informed of the events on the ground. Which is a huge relief, glad to know they have access to Al Jezeera in the white house.

This president sat on the sidelines during Egypt, is sitting on the sidelines as our unions are under an all out assult by corporate interests, and is now sitting on the sidelines when it comes to Libya. Why did this guy want to be president if he had absolutely no intention of being a leader?

1. He definitely should NOT sit on the sidelines here...Ghadafi is finished...and
when he finally goes, it will be guns blazing...the only way to lessen the eventual bloodbath is for Obama and all other western leaders to speak out STRONGLY in favor of the protestors, so that the few that are still loyal to Ghadafi will leave him soon, and Ghadafi will have fewer supporters and arms to unleash on the protestors at the end.

2. But I'm afraid he not only is sitting on the sidelines but will continue to
until he knows which way the wind is blowing.

4. It's pretty obvious right now which way the wind is blowing...
no excuse for not making a strong show of support.

5. President Obama made a brief statement days ago
Statement by the President on violence in Bahrain, Libya and Yemen

I am deeply concerned by reports of violence in Bahrain, Libya and Yemen. The United States condemns the use of violence by governments against peaceful protesters in those countries and wherever else it may occur. We express our condolences to the family and friends of those who have been killed during the demonstrations. Wherever they are, people have certain universal rights including the right to peaceful assembly. The United States urges the governments of Bahrain, Libya and Yemen to show restraint in responding to peaceful protests, and to respect the rights of their people.

6. Yeah, I mentioned that in my OP. But things have changed quite a bit since he made that statement
he should be calling on the UN to act. Not "monitoring" the situation.

7. I'm sure he will
after the Americans have left the country. Until then, it is to dangerous for them. I this psychopath will mow down his own people this way, he will have no problem killing all US citizens for revenge. He has already ordered that the US cannot charter planes.
