Ga. Law Could Give Death Penalty for Miscarriages
http://motherjones.com/blue-marble/2011/02/miscarriage-death-penalty-georgia

"Georgia State Rep. Bobby Franklin has introduced a 10-page bill that would criminalize miscarriages and make abortion in Georgia completely illegal. Both miscarriages and abortions would be potentially punishable by death: any "prenatal murder" in the words of the bill, including "human involvement" in a miscarriage, would be a felony and carry a penalty of life in prison or death. Basically, it's everything an "pro-life" activist could want aside from making all women who've had abortions wear big red "A"s on their chests."

3. What? No torture before the execution?
They're getting soft, I tell ya.

Honestly, all public officials should be given a mental fitness exam before taking office.

9. They'll have a hard time criminalizing miscarriages, since about 1 in 6 women experience
a miscarriage. I suppose they might be headed back towards the old English law that presumed any unreported stillbirth or miscarriage was an infanticide. The bill, as I read it, would clearly prohibit abortion, apparently without consideration for health or life of the mother

10. Is Bobby Franklin married?
If not, how does he get a woman to sleep with him? Really?

Think about it, ladies - a guy who wants to criminalize miscarriages? He needs help.

11. And if the miscarriage happens because the man's sperm
was defective who will get the death penalty?

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/06/health/06sper.html

As men get older, their sperm deteriorates, a new study has found, and it is likely that the damaged sperm of older men is a significant factor in certain specific birth defects and in increasing the risk of abnormal pregnancies.
