and how taxes hit the little guys, you know, the engine that keeps this country going.
I'm talking entrepreneurs and guys who just have a dream.
Now I know you really want the appearance of a Blue Ribbon panel to make you look good with the swells over on the other side of the aisle, but really now, most of these people are more about impressing shareholders and keeping dividends and the value of the stock as high as possible.
That, of course, is very important.
But when you really look at this, isn't this the type of myopic view of the American economy that got us into this situation?
I mean, cutting jobs comes real natural to these guys and gals. They really are self-interested in getting their portfolios in as good a shape as possible.
Now you have some of the heads of big banks on your new panel.
Did you forget about all that stuff that went down in 2008?
Anyway, since you let by gones be by gones, keep them on the panel.
But you really need to get someone on that panel that represents the people and how they operate in this "new" economy of yours and your recent predecessors.
Now. unlike the swells you invited to the panel, I'll need a little bit of money to make it worth my while. And since I am disabled, it would probably be best if I could come to some of the panel meeting (yawn, been there, done that) but not all. I have a really good friend who lives in Silver Spring who would be glad to put me up for a few months so it wouldn't cost all that much.
And get this, he is an expert at labor relations so we could actually tag team it. You know, he comes in one day, me the next and since we would be living together, well we would talk, share.
A good thing is that I don't smoke so I wouldn't be tempted to go into one of those back rooms that the press goes on about now and then.
And I don't drink so there would be far less chance for me to be enticed by a hooker some night after a long meeting, you know how much drink and carrying on can effect the intra personal relationships between the panelists.
The only thing I would be leery of is that Laura Tyson. She is easy on the eyes and smart, the whole package so it would probably be better for me to sit away from her on the panel because even though I am married, I can't help but flirt with a woman who is as interesting as Ms. Tyson is and that would be a distraction for the both of us.
I love to crack wise, just so you know, and I am not shy even when faced with men and women of high standings.
One more VERY important thing; I do taxes for normal people and small business owners. I have been there for twenty years now and know what really impedes progress and what greases the wheels, so to speak.
So why don't you give me a shot on that panel.
I promise I would make that panel more edgy, a little less regal and perhaps, for once, get the mood of the people, real people, on the record.
I might not always agree with what you do and say, but I tell you one thing, you are the real deal and I still think you are the bees knees.
Sincerely, WCGreen
