Kansas next in declaring Unions the "boogy man" Told ya it was coming

House approves bill making it harder for unions to collect political donationsTOPEKA — Despite protest that it unjustly targets unions and infringes on union members’ freedoms, the House today passed a bill that would restrict unions from using deductions from members’ paychecks to fund political activities.

Currently, union members can sign off on the use of deductions from their paychecks for political purposes. House Bill 2130 would end that practice, forcing unions to seek funds for political activities through separate donations.

Supporters of the bill claim it will remove government from the process of funding political campaigns and protect workers from seeing their dues used in ways they do not support.

“When you are not in the majority in your union, you may feel uncomfortable with where those dues are going,” said Anthony Brown, R-Eudora. “Under the current system, they can’t self-direct those dollars.”

2. Home of the Kochs. What would we expect?
These uber-rich old boys realize their legacy isn't in their billions but in the way their billions can be used to reach an ideological Valhalla for Boyars throughout America.

Time to redirect their ideological quest TO HELL

9. I wonder if everyone in that church that expects 10% of their income
supports the church's political ideas and or, political contributions?

6. Do you know what this is really about?
All the state pension funds were invested in things like Enron and SIVs because they gave impossibly high returns. During the go-go 90s and early 00s, that passed for sound investing to insure adequate income to support present and future retirees.

The money is gone, folks, and has been for a long time. All those contributions are just no longer there. They were stolen years ago.

Now the Boomers are getting ready to retire. Unless the states save face somehow by attacking the greedy old unions and eliminating all the bennies for younger workers, there will be nothing for the retirees. As it is, their pensions will likely be chopped down to a fraction of what they should be.

It doesn't dawn on them to raise taxes on the people who ended up with the money. In any case, they can't tax the bankers and hedge funds directly, nor can they go after outfits like Countrywide or the scum at Enron, not after all this time, suing them to grab the money back. If they tried, they might "threaten the system."

So they're going to stiff every working person they can, blaming them all the way, and ensuring there will be no striking or bargaining for a better deal down the line.

The only question is how long we're going to let them get away with it.

10. I'm sure they favor the same restrictions on unions of organized
investors, also known as corporations. They should poll each stockholder to see if they want to make political contributions or not.
