Jury decides on death penalty for woman who headed vigilante squad
Arizona jurors decided an anti-illegal immigration activist -- portrayed as the ringleader of a hit squad -- should receive the death penalty for the killings of a Latino man and his 9-year-old daughter, a court spokeswoman said Tuesday.

*

If the jury had not voted for the death penalty, the judge would have decided whether Shawna Forde should have received life with a chance of parole after 35 years or life with no possibility of parole.

*

Her attorney, Eric Larsen, said he "fully expected that this community valued human life greater than this jury did."

Juror Angela Thomas told KGUN, "We chose death because that's what seems fair. There's a little girl in this equation whose father won't be able to walk her down the aisle," she said.

1. I think the proper term is "murderer"
Where are they getting this "vigilante" crap?

3. So, her attorney said this?
Her attorney, Eric Larsen, said he "fully expected that this community valued human life greater than this jury did."

Or they valued life more than his convicted client did...

Good grief.

4. I would favor life in prison without parole. There has been enough of a body count. nt

6. I am not against that either
but I won't argue that the death penalty is not warranted in this case

I know that it isn't supposed to have any determent factor but maybe these other minutemen types will clue in that they can't go around killing people.

7. I want her alive, and miserable, and having to spend every day for the rest of her natural life

THINKING about what she did.

The death penalty lets her off the hook from that, and it gives the anti-immigrant crazies a martyr.

8. Yeah. This one is hard for me...
I have a real problem with the death penalty...but...I have to admit that I felt a surge of something ...maybe a kind of relief/revenge when I heard of this jury decision.

9. That's natural
The instinctual thing is to want vengeance against such a monster. You wouldn't be human if you didn't feel at least some of that.

11. A long time ago...
I saw a picture of an American Nazi family, posing for the photo in Swastika regalia, complete with little kids. I can't remember any details about it, except that I was saddened by the faces of the children in the picture.
I actually got a little teary, because I could see these kids growing up with the most goddawful notions about people, justice, race, you name it. What chance did they have, I thought, to be anything but monstrous? Anyway, I can't help but think how powerless any of us can be to overcome what we're taught when we're terribly young and vulnerable. There are times when I wish I wasn't burdened by this idea. It's a lot simpler to just want some kind of vengeance.
(Did that make any sense?)

12. I get what you're saying...I think
I was raised by an ultra-conservative family...and up until a couple of years ago, I was still a raging conservative.

So yes...people can change. :)

13. The Mom testified she heard her little girl beg for her life.
Fuck Shauna, Off her. Arizona is full of these crazy racist monsters, they will take a lesson.

Keeping her in jail means years of her sniveling to the guards while she makes a life for herself as an Aryan Queen behind bars.

Fuck her and all people who off kids.
Their humanity ticket is UP!!!

14. I'm not crazy about the death penalty
But she's from the segment of the population that demands it. Be careful what you wish for. Maybe it will serve as a warning to others that want to pull this kind of shit.

16. I know I'm not crazy about "Aryan Queen Shauna" of the cons.
I am warped, a bit, I know. I used to bartender for off duty guards at the "Q."
They shared frustrations of having to hustle to get all the inmates their food and showers and such and to also hear them openly laugh about their victims.

Shauna, the death row Aryan Queen is bad enough, at least she'll keep her mouth shut, hoping for a reprieve.
