Ex-Ind. deputy AG says Twitter comments satirical
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_WISCONSIN_PROTESTERS_INDIANA_OFFICIAL?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=US

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- A former Indiana deputy attorney general who tweeted that police should "use live ammunition" against Wisconsin labor protesters says his comments were intended to be satirical.

Jeffrey Cox tells Indianapolis television station WRTV he realizes the tweet wasn't a good idea, but he doesn't think public employees should lose their free speech rights.

The attorney general's office says Cox "is no longer employed" by the state after Mother Jones magazine reported his tweet. The magazine says the tweet came in response to a Saturday posting on its Twitter feed that riot police could sweep demonstrators out of the Wisconsin capitol where they're protesting legislation to strip public employees of collective bargaining rights.

2. NOBODY is taking away his freedom of speech
I don't see him being thrown in a cell with bread and water being tortured.
I see a man who CHOSE to use his freedom of speech in such a manner that it cost him his job.

It was HIS choice....just like it was the choice of his employer to fire him for it.

14. Alas, I'll bet the Koch brothers will offer him a job. He's just the kind of
asswipe that would fit in with their organization. And I use the term "asswipe" advisedly b/c it's no coincidence that the Koch fortune was built on toilet paper.

(BTW, boycott Quilted Northern and Angel Soft)

11. Huh. I didn't realize that THAT was what "satirical" meant.
I've gone my entire life with a completely different definition in mind. That's for clearing that up, Jeff.

12. He's hoping people don't hear more of what he tweeted than the "use live ammunition" part.
That way he may be able to save some public face and play himself off as the 'poor victim' in this disaster of his own making.

If you leave out how he called the demonstrators "political enemies" and "thugs" who were "physically threatening legally elected officials." and the "you're damned right I advocate deadly force." And how he called the person from Mother Jones a "typical leftist," and said how "liberals hate police." You might buy that. With all that in context though he reads like a typical hate filled Republican.
