Pictures from Topeka, KS rally
Edited on Sat Feb-26-11 08:29 PM by proud2BlibKansan
It was wonderful. About 1000-1500 there supporting workers and 3 teabags. Very cold but the crowd was enthusiastic. We heard from wonderful musicians, labor leaders and several elected officials. And of course, the signs were great! In the Koch's home state!

First the teabags. Loved this first sign. Look closely at the last word. Looks like he changed his mind about spelling? LOL

KS House Democratic leader Paul Davis. He's a member of AFT :)

14. It's a great idea.
Brownback, brown paper bag-who'd know the difference? Either one will do what the Koch Bros tell it to.

17. Wow! Wonderful!
They REALLY hate the Kochs, and probably know them better than any of us do. I'd love to know the story behind the poster, "Fred Koch tapped my phone"

21. Yup, I was there. But rallies won't finish the job. We have to figure out
Edited on Sun Feb-27-11 11:08 AM by mistertrickster
how to make it more painful for the rich to keep waging class war than for them to live with public worker pensions, social security, and organized labor.

Rallies don't do that.

Boycotts do that. Bad PR (for them) does that. Educating their clients does that.

M. L. King said that street protest only brings the power structure to a state where it's ready to negotiate. It is only a means to start a process.

Let's face it, Walker is going to win. He's going to strip Wis. public workers of the right to organize. That's what the Koch's and the rest of the filthy stinking rich paid him to do and once these right-wingers get bought, they stay bought.

The only thing that might de-rail the reich-wing is to ramp up the heat like say, a nation-wide general strike, in which we pledge not to buy ANYTHING until Walker backs off.

23. Without trucks, America stops
the teamsters are involved, this is very good. if the teamsters call a strike business will grind to a hault very quickly and governments will make concessions very quickly as well. WORLD WORKERS UNITE!

26. The Teaparty side looks pretty sad
It was the same in our state. We had more thousands than they had hundreds (mostly bussed-in).

27. kinda surprising, considering it is Kansas
even Topeka is pretty red. It was a drizzly, icy day and Democrats had an advantage since we happened to be having our convention that day just a few blocks away. Still, I am not sure they even filled two busses from the convention.
