So did both CBS and ABC
they both covered the fact that there were rallies.

CBS, not surprisingly, was better about it.

ABC was mostly, yes, yes people came out in suport of the workers, BUT... we really need to do this in ten other states, and they interviewed Brewer. Why interview Trumka I guess?

Still if I were not following this on my own... it would give me the impression that those thousands of people, nobody needs to listen to them.

What a contrast from when there were made in American rallies back in the 1980s... these guys and gals are not yet aware of the gale force wind across the country... and not precisely one they will want to tack into.

Oh and MSM... the tea parties are an inch deep, and astroturf... just from what two weeks now? this is deep.

1. They had probably a good 10 minute segment on ABC Chicago
I know its not alot but its more than I saw on other channels. They also had Senator Durbin at the rally in Downtown Chicago talking about standing together.

2. Nuh uh. The media has ALWAYS been owned by the wealthy.
Strikers and protesters have always been given short shrift in whatever media was current. Yet, without social networking, labor did manage to organize, industry by industry.

5. I know but those made in america rallies
were covered better than any of this. Trust me, I am aware... Chicago Tribune and Hay market are a perfect example.

Social media will be a true nightmare for the powers that be.

4. Who is following me around tonight with the un-reccing? Methinks the trolls
are out this winter's night. Anyway, Chicago, ABC, announced rallies in Chicago today. Faux News with Greta Sustern this afternoon had pictures on in the background that I think were old videos of tea party rallies! I was trying to escape the room with this so I wasn't paying very strict attention.

the first did a decent job. These were national... and yes the unreccers are out en force... no they are not trolls, but there are people who have an issue with what is going on

8. Unfortunately the mainstream coverage gives the impression that the rallies were mixed
They never get the story right. Without background, after watching the ABC story, I would assume that both sides were about equally represented. I would also come away thinking that cutting the collective bargaining rights was a solution to the states budget crises.

The mainstream media is such a frustrating system.

13. Completely agreed
But still most American's won't "get it". Not until they are themselves in jeopardy of losing their livelihood. It will eventually happen that the population will wake up one day and realize that they've been had. Unfortunately, I fear deeply that it will be much too late by then.

and we already are having many come to Jesus moments as well... that is why GRANNY NEVER voted for a republican... DUH!

This will also change voting patterns.

17. Here's to hoping you are right...
Yeah, it will have some effect... I guess I've just gotten old and cynical. I've seen other moments when I thought the population would figure out how badly they were being taken and they don't ... but I hope you are correct. I know that some will. Maybe a critical mass? Just maybe?

19. This is why a few Governors
are returning the hand grenade to walker, and in private I am almost positive they are telling him to stop this.

Hell even the Kochs are starting to distance themselves from this.

If they stop this they got a chance of putting the pin back. If they don't... it could very well be the 1930s all over. (I know the horror)

22. Remember they are all corporate owned
They are doing the bidding of their big bosses. They are not journalists. They are lots o' nice-looking people who can read teleprompters.

11. Wouldn't it be great to see all the media unions have a sickout for a day?
to let the bosses know that labor should be covered and covered fairly.

15. Nile TV... that is what comes to mind
would be great, but... it took people at tahrir for days on end... as impressive as Madison is... we are not at that point yet (and partly it is the weather. Imagine if this was done in the summer when there is no snow on the ground.

20. They interviewed Brewer?
There was a recall Brewer signing today - they are close to reaching their goal. Watch lady, you might be on the unemployment list like many here. Could be why you are so cozy with the corporations you dried up old prune.

23. Channel 4 in Denver (CBS)
Gave it some coverage, kinda sorta. Mostly it was the reporter standing alone, saying a thousand people attended (it was 3000 by everyone else's count). She included in her "report" an interview with Walker Stapleton, our new state treasurer whose job qualification is that he's first cousin to Neil Bush. You can guess whose side he's on.

Bleeeaaaaahhhh.
