Gadhafi was going to withdraw millions of dollars from Canadian accounts tomorrow. Canadian
government moved to stop that. Will the freezing of his assets make him less likely to leave Libya? According to Canadian news today he has no plans to leave. He's staying put.

1. There is no reason to believe anything he says
Edited on Mon Feb-28-11 12:15 AM by pinboy3niner
He says he's staying, but he may bolt like a rabbit. He's absolutely untrustworthy and unpredictable. If he's able to escape, he may well wind up as a guest of Mugabe in Zimbabwe.

Freezing his assets helps--it removes a lot of "his" funds--but he's sure to have plenty of cash and gold on hand, too. And even if he does manage to escape, he would need a TON of security, and even then he'd likely have to live mostly as a prisoner in his own home. Venturing out would entail enormous risks--it's not like nobody knows what he looks like.

If he chooses to stay, he'll likely get what he says is his wish--to die in Libya.

2. I think he has enough to keep him in tents and Army mans uniforms for a while

He's not sane. I don't imagine that what may motivate another - would motivate him.

6. Good point
His unpredictable behavior indicates that we can't expect from him what we'd consider as normal, logical reactions.

Maybe someone thoroughly acquainted with DSM-IV would have a better idea, but even that is doubtful.

7. No. It belongs to the people of Libya.
Libya's oil revenues make it a pretty wealthy country, but the people haven't seen it--it's gone to the elite and to Gaddafi's projects throughout Africa. For an oil-rich country, Libya's people have had a high level of poverty.

10. Very funny
But no, we wouldn't want it to end up in your Chinese bank account. Nice try--especially for a loony Canadian! :)
