"i have videos, but they are after me - they will catch me."
This is one of many compelling messages coming out of Libya. It is one that struck me, as I'm sure it will strike many others here.

Posted on AJE Live Blog - Libya Feb 27:

6:23pm AJE source who was shot in the leg with rubber bullets on Friday says:

Tripoli is a civil city no weapons here; we just fight with stones, even the ambulances are full of mercenaries ... you have to sign a document that you agree that your son/daughter was killed by protesters or they won't release the body ... lot of people have gone missing ... kidnapped from outside their houses, people paid 7000 dinars to kidnap ... my friends were shot by snipers on Friday ... they died, and an old man died in front of him as well ...around 40,000 people were protesting ... there many snipers around -i have videos, but they are after me - they will catch me.

6. We all do, Peg
I've seen a lot of messages coming out of Libya, but this one really struck me.

For one thing, it manages to pack a lot of information--much of it horrifying--into a very brief message.

For another, it conveys the very real mortal danger that attaches not only to this person, but to anyone who attempts to get information--the truth--out of the country.

It's both sad and heartening to witness these developments from afar.

We want to help, but we're powerless to do anything to save anyone.

And so we do the only thing we CAN do from here--we bear witness.

Libya Hurra!

2. This won't end well for Libyans.
Gaddafi will answer for the crimes he's committed as a tyrant. Hope he gets the Hussein treatment.

5. I think it will end well for Libyans--but not without casualties
It sounds like you mean to say the same thing, but the phrasing may have been off.

It's entirely understandable that we feel concern for the atrocities that are occuring in Libya.

9. I've got a feeling he won't survive long enough to stand trial
I think that his people will give him what he wants, death fighting for his power.

3. Get those vids OUT.
Once released, they'll have less reason to kill. They might still, but it's the best strategy.

4. Many, many vids of atrocities in Libya are already out
Problem is, the world press hasn't been allowed in until Sunday. So everything else the Libyans have reported has been regarded as unconfirmed.

The journalists who have been alowed in officially have already reported a huge discrepancy between what the regime is saying and what they are finding on the ground.

This shit always seems to follow a pattern--the bad guys escape, and we don't find the evidence against them until much later, when we excavate the mass graves.
