K heard today that half our Federal debt is held overseas, which
means that half is held by Americans. This raises a question; are we borrowing money to cover a deficit from the very people we should be taxing?

1. Precisely.
A transfer of wealth from the poor, middle, and lower rungs of the top to the very top.

But in Washingtonspeak, it's not "redistribution" if it gets redistributed upward.

12. Now my head is really spinning. For example, who owns US Debt,
Canada or individual Canadians? If Japan and/or some Japanese are holding US debt, is America or some Americans holding Japanese debt? How does is all come out in the wash?

9. No, high income people typically don't have a large investment in T-Bills
You're far more likely to find it in pension funds and other places that demand very safe investments.
