Grant it, its not their fault that Goodwin Liu was not confirmed to the 9th. Circuit...But if he's renominated, democrats cannot let republicans define him, they have to fight for him....Professor Liu even has conservative support, ie; Ken Starr, & Richard Painter..But democrats let the National Review define him as a radical, when Liu is hardly that, hence the aforementioned conservative supporters....

1. Goodwin Liu is not going to get sixty votes in the Senate.
And he is not going to get unanimous consent to be brought to a confirmation vote, either.

He would make a fantastic judge, but he is genuinely liberal and has been very publicly so, and that will be a disqualifier for Republican support (and also possibly for that of Democrats like Ben Nelson.)

2. What about this altrenative...Goodwin Liu is from CA., next month
when Jerry Brown becomes governor, isn't there some court he could appoint him to?...Ok, it won't be the same level to what President Obama can nominate him to, but at least he'd be on a CA. Superior Court, etc. which would be some great experience perhaps leading to a SCOTUS appt...I'm of the belief that it would be much harder for repukes to filibuster him on a high court appt. since those are very high profile and generate a ton of coverage...With his background, qualifications, support, etc. repukes will look REAL bad filibustering him...But, these lower court nominations don't get 1/3 the attention a SCOTUS pick gets, so it is easier to block such a nomination, IMO...
