Bought a poster this week
It goes back to another time in my life, the 90's - but it says so simply now what I feel as it did then.

And it sums up now how I feel about politics, as it did other things back in the 90's.

I want to believe.

Believe that the people we elected are really out there working for the people, all of them, and not just the wealthy and the corporations.

I want to believe that because I don't have a ton of money to hand to my elected official, that because I cannot send them on nice trips or buy them dinners or help their relatives find cushy jobs - well I would like to believe that I have a voice.

I want to believe that they are standing on principle - but heck, even on message boards I find that there are people who don't do so and are willing to toss aside basic rights for savings on health care, education, etc.

I want to believe that the people we spend our time and money to get into office actually will bust their asses to do the job we asked of them and not play it safe to protect their jobs. I want to believe they will stand up and fight for what is good and right.

I am still waiting to see a UFO. Still waiting for evidence of alien life.

And I am still waiting on the people we worked for to make a stand equal to the one they want us to make - that is to say, they have no problem putting us into situations where we put our lives on the line to defend the country yet they themselves balk at putting themselves and their job at risk for the same thing.

I want to believe the people we put into office will work as hard for us as we did for them.

Like Fox Mulder all I am left with is a poster on my wall.
