(KS) House claims union threat to lawmaker
Female legislator reportedly told that union loyalists knew where she lived

Hostility directed at House members and staff by labor activists at the Capitol before a key vote included a brazen warning to one female representative that the location of her home was known to union loyalists, House Republican leaders said Friday.

The vote last week on a bill prohibiting voluntary, automatic deductions from all union paychecks to finance political activities lured dozens of union members to the Statehouse. Opponents of the legislation filled the House gallery and lined hallways leading to meeting rooms used by lawmakers.

Despite the uproar Feb. 24, the bill passed the House 75-46.

House Majority Leader Arlen Siegfreid, R-Olathe, said the majority of union members appropriately expressed a First Amendment right to influence House action on the bill.

A small number of confrontations away from the House floor crossed the line and left open the possibility victims could consider legal action, he said.

In one instance, he said, a woman serving in the House — he declined to disclose her identity — was stopped in a hallway and told to vote against the paycheck measure. She was informed union sympathizers knew where she resided, Siegfreid said.

"She was terrified," Siegfreid said. "She changed her vote. Some of these actions were simply inexcusable, and I won't tolerate it."

2. These fuckers WANTED a return to the earliest days of the labor movement.
I have not one iota of sympathy. This is exactly what they have all been asking for.

Blood was spilled over these sorts of things a long time ago. These fuckwads should expect it to get to that point again so long as they keep poking the sleeping giant of organized labor.

6. That really does happen though
Except for the union goons part.

Several sites that can't be named here watch us like hawks, figure out who we are and make threats.

7. Apparently there is a video
The union guys took video, as they expected hostility that day. And the video shows no threats to any lawmaker. Of course, anyone can claim they turned the camera off.

But one of the accusations is that the union leader took off his name tag and the video clearly shows it is still on.

8. Kind of like the Fox video
Where the guy claims he was hit right after the camera cut away.

9. The union guys took the video
They claim it exonerates them.

I'd love to see it.

10. "Reportedly"
My, my, so many things "reportedly" happening: The Fox reporter getting punched, the massive damage to the Wisconsin Capitol building, and now Mr. Siegfried's little story. Seems to me that if a legislator was threatened, the thing to do is go to the cops, not a friendly reporter.
