Jan Brewer Critics Gather Signatures To Force Recall Election
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/06/jan-brewer-recall_n_832003.html

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer may have picked a bad time to go on vacation.

Just after the Republican lawmaker embarked on a trip to Alaska -- which she wrote on Twitter marks her first in two years -- local Fox affiliate KSAZ reported that critics of the governor spent part of Saturday collecting signatures to recall her from office at the state capitol.

According to the Grand Canyon State-based outlet, 432,000 signatures would need to be obtained by the end of May to force a recall election.

While Brewer cruised to a second term in Arizona's midterm election last year, it seems her tenure as governor can be characterized as anything, but smooth. From contentious debate over illegal immigration and SB 1070 -- a controversial measure addressing the issue she signed into state law last year -- to questionable health care cuts, Brewer's decisions have left some in her state less than pleased.

1. Looks like Wisconsin's problems have awoken the sleeping masses
We have public workers who got sucked in and duped with the single issue lies told by the right and now they are sitting up and taking notice.

January. Two peas in a pod.

3. Seeing What Happened to Evan Mecham Happen To Jan Brewer Would Be A Pleasure
Seeing Jan Brewer forced into a recall election the same way Evan Mecham was forced into a recall election back in the 1980's would be a pleasure. Would that not only enough valid signatures are gathered and enough of those people who sat out Jan Brewer's election turn out to the polls to repudiate her policies!

14. I wonder how many Governors in Arizona have not served full terms?
If Brewer gets recalled she will have served parts of 2 different terms but not full terms.

4. I considered the same thing with Wall Street John Kasich in Ohio ...
I hear he's going to do a "subdued" signing of the collective bargaining bill ...

I thought all these Republicans were so "brave" in their actions ... I thought he'd be playing to the Teahadistas with a big to-do over signing the bill ...

Of course, this is par for the course for Kasich ... who probably has yet to disclose his Wall Street bonuses.

10. How about Chris Christie in New Jersey!
Glad a lot of us worked hard to get Kitzhaber in at Oregon. But at least we don't have the "Dud Dudley" to have to get rid of too, who obviously would have been on the anti-union war path with his anti-waiter/waitress comments during the election.

8. If we do a bunch of them ALL AT THE SAME time, might be harder for the corporatists...
... to get enough Citizen's United enabled money to stop all of them.

Could get quite expensive for them! If enough people can be grass roots in all of these states to GOTV, the people numbers then could beat the money numbers!

7. But it won't mean much
Even if they are successful in the recall effort, that still leaves Tom Horn as governor and he isn't any better then Brewer...in my opinion the man is even more of a racist and much worse then Brewer.

9. Hmm... With those kind of rules in California, should have gotten Bustamante in instead of Ahnold...
You sure there isn't a means to provide a separate proposition to vote for the replacement governor ala California? (Not sure on how Arizona's recall rules are set up).

12. Every thing I'm reading
says a recall election takes place and any qualified candidate could run against the incumbent.

Best website I've found on the subject-http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Laws_governing_recall_in_Arizona Though I can't get the PDF concerning recall rules to load.

15. Wouldn't the Secretary of State be the first person in line to succeed in Arizona?

11. I gotta find that clipboard!!
I already signed one Russell Pearce recall but there is another one floating around and can't combine the signatures so I'm trying to find the other one but I'm not sure which one of the recall petitions I signed.

13. I still can't get over the fact that both Brewer and Bachmann(R-MN) won their elections.
They are both right wing nut jobs!

16. Off year elections.
Maybe all elections for Governor in each state should be held in leap years just as for President.

17. Careful, it is a double edged sword.
The right could do the same.
