60. Actually, you don't "have it."
The request was for the source. "Save image" will copy it for you but won't give you the source. "Save location," will give you the source. So I copied the source link, which was a shortened URL, so there weren't any clues in the URL. I went to the site of the address link. It was the single image without any attribution, indicating that the OP had clicked on the image at the source and copied the chart from the page that held just the image with, again, no reference to the actual source. So no, you don't have it by that method. And the snarky responses don't obviate the obligation to just posting the damn link to the source.

Anybody can post any bullshit on the web, but what backs up the claim? Call it common courtesy, call it sourcing your claims, it's what we do here at DU. It's what keeps this site legit and informed, and the trolls at bay.

As requested, and as a courtesy to other DUers and the original source, as suggested below.

I found the link, or at lease A link, from February 22:

Cheers.

Infographic: Tax Breaks vs. Budget Cuts

By Donna Cooper | February 22, 2011

House leaders are unfortunately restricting their proposed budget cuts for the remainder of fiscal year 2011 to nonsecurity discretionary spending in an attempt to tame a $1.3 trillion deficit. This approach is especially shortsighted since the Federal Treasury loses twice as much revenue due to tax breaks than Congress appropriates on all nonsecurity discretionary spending.

The chart below compares the 10 safety-net programs slated for deep cuts with the cost of the tax breaks that should also be considered for reduction or elimination to bring the budget into balance. The column on the left is a list of safety-net programs that have already been targets of the House leadership’s budget ax. The column on the right is the cost to specified tax breaks (see bottom of page for sources).

(More of the article including links for the numbers in the chart here: http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2011/02/tax_breaks_infographic.html )

Sorry, but this is a pet peeve of mine. There's a ton of crap on the 'net, and if you can't source your info, I'd almost rather you didn't waste my time with it.

Glad to know this is legit; now I can use it.

And yeah, you can make 10 other people waste their time tracking it down -- I've certainly spent my time that way before -- but why not include it in the o.p.?

Another consideration, although probably n.a. in this case: info embarrassing to the powerful has a way of disappearing off the net. So it can be helpful to document where the info was originally found. (I personally think one shd always record the link and the date on which the info was found there. And if the info's really damning/valuable, consider preserving it in its entirety in a safe place.)

48. The assault continues on the states level.
Our corporate pig of a governor (Tom Corbett) has already eliminated a program that provided 41,000 low-income people with health insurance. Meanwhile , he refuses to charge an extraction tax on natural gas drilling and has opened up our public lands to the drillers. Tomorrow he announces his budget and the cuts are expected to be "harsh" for education and mental health programs.

It's getting bad here. What is going to happen to education in Texas when all of these schools are closed down and the kids (including my 2) are packed like sardines into classrooms? It's sickening.

20. It's not a question of sharing an image.
It's a question of sourcing the image. Who made it? Where did they draw these figures from? This is linked from an image-hosting site. There is nothing that links it to a news source. It could be made up out of whole cloth for all we know.

if we can use the image or not, we want the source to know how the info was collected, by whom it was collected, and when the info was collected. in other words we want to know if it is legit. it is like when you write an essay for history class and cite your source.

64. The point was that TAX BREAKS for the rich are the main contributor to those budget cuts
You're assuming that the rich can only be taxed at the pre-Bush levels, which were pretty low (in terms of our history). Increasing the tax rates could make up for the rest of the budget deficit. Which is mostly military spending, after all if the rich want their holy war... they should at least have the courtesy of help paying for it. Right now the middle and lower classes are paying the majority of it in terms of dollars and the lives of their kids, where the rich are getting a shitload of money back in terms of contracts from said wars. It is not fair, it is obscene.

62. That one grabbed me too.
Why the Fuck should corporations be allowed to take a tax deduction on "Punitive Damages"?
That makes NO SENSE at ALL!

61. It IS Rich Vs Poor
There is a class war, and there are two kinds of people in this regard: Those who benefit from the status quo (The Haves), and those who do not (The Have-Nots).

Democrat vs Republican? Left vs Right? Liberal vs Conservative? -- All Bullshit. Most Liberals and Democrats have sold out for a seat at the Power Table, or out of fear, or out of laziness.

The divide is Top vs Bottom; the Few vs. the Many; the Haves vs the Have-Nots -- the Rulers vs the Ruled.

The Power Elite know this. They believe it should be this way. And they are winning the class war.

it has always been rich versus poor, unfortunately, the poor are sick, hungry, crazy, and uneducated in shocking numbers, and it's pretty easy to control sick, hungry, crazy, uneducated people

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot, not only do the rich pigs own our government (including the Supreme Court), they also own and manipulate the media for their further gain and enrichment. Bobbolink is correct, we must light fires, and keep them burning to keep our message and concerns alive.

I would love to see an article that linked which bills passed did each of the cuts and rich-gifts. Then see which members of congress voted for each. If they all passed, then we know that the president signed them.

101. the rich 1st won when the 1913 Federal Reserve Act passed, giving monetary control to private banks
Over the next 100 years they slowly, relentlessly have vertically consolidated all forms of power and wealth. They think in 25, 50, and 100 year planning time horizons, and they now have the scientific technology of full-spectrum dominance to suppress almost all true dissent and resistance.

The economic tools of this are the BIS, IMF, World Bank, US Federal Reserve, ECB, Bank of England, the Central Bank of Japan, the Central Bank of China (to certain degree), plus the 15 to 20 largest private banks in the world.

The muscle to enforce this regime is the US/NATO military industrial complex. The social control is projected via the multi-national media complex, including telly, pop culture, movies, newspapers, and internet social media manipulation.

The political control is though the influence over almost all the major parliaments of the world, as well a massive surveillance state security apparatus that is multi-variate in both its penetration and its power control projection.

Finally, the systemic controllers have for 100 years worked tireless to create Hegelian dialectics (problem, action, solution) that drive the bases of power away from sovereign nations towards an unaccountable schema of global governance. This ensures that even nations who's Parliaments act in their people's interest are forced via coercion to adopt regimes that further vertically strip the wealth and power upwards to a tiny elite clique of neo-pharaohs.

Edited on Mon Mar-07-11 04:12 PM by GreenTea
cut from the poor & middle-class workers & small business.

It's truly about time we see something that all talking heads simply ignore, the slimy millions & billions of dollars that the republicans won't cut and gifts to the rich and their corporations....(including not cutting out the incredible military spending & waste).

What republicans refuse to cut for their rich friends & contributors should be mentioned every time someone in the media is disgusting the republican slimy budget and their planned cuts of social spending in favor of give-aways & subsidies for the wealthy & corporations the republicans won't even consider cutting.

102. neither party will cut the military budget($1.2 trillion)& neither can cut the debt service($600 bil
this almost $2 trillion is what is crushing the country. And that debt service will explode whenever the bond market refuses to keep financing $4 trillion dollar US budgets.

Vicious circle, meanwhile the US tears itself apart over just $60 billion in cuts, because those cuts actually immediately impact the most vulnerable citizens.

You so need a 1% Wall Street Sales Tax on all turnover on financial transactions (with the first $1 million exempted)

If there is $1 quadrillion (1000 trillion) annually in turnover, even with a foreseen 50% reduction in transactions (especially the abhorrent high-frequency algorithmic trading)from the tax, and the $1 million exemption, you still are talking about 3 to 5 trillion dollars in tax revenue generated each year.

I realize that even though I'm struggling, I'm lucky because I'm at the moment safely employed and safe and secure in home and person but damn it ... so many are not. It is truly destructive that we've allowed them to take from the poor for so very long now.

104. there is a Shadow group controlling the GOP, the Dominionists. Link>>
the Tax Cuts for the rich, trickle down economics, the New World Order, Globalism.. but who actually runs the GOP..??

these are all Dominionist Principals..!!

the Dominionists work in the Shadows. in 1934 a Nazi refugee Abraham Vereide started what is now the "C st Family", the Christian Fellowship, A.K.A.the Christian Mafia.. and have taken the Evangelical movement into the Dark Side. THEY ARE BY DEFINATION..the Anti-Christ, don't get me wrong, i am a Buddhist i don't believe in the 'Revelation's', but i did grow up in the Free Holyness Pentecostal church. when i was 6 our Sunday school taught us Revelation's. then Romans, Acts, then Revelation's again, but i have a IQ of 164.. so it didn't stick.

the Dominionists believe that God/Jesus only bless the Rich, Wealth and Power is proof of gods Favor of a man/corporation, so it is a sin to tax them. God Speaks directly to the rich/Powerful, the poor must "Submit" totally to their will, and become a slave to god. the poor are being punished by god so it is a sin to help them, or not to torment them.

Trickle Down doesn't mean money, it means only gods blessings to those who followed gods greatest plan and made the rich richer. the New World Order is the Utopian Paradise created when all the worlds poor submit to gods great plan, and become slaves.. the GOP is Theocratic Cargo Cult of OCD psychotic narcissistic wealth/power hoarders.. in the 30's Depression FDR appointed Abraham Vereide to a Cabinet position to start programs for the poor to bring them out of poverty.. Vereide's plan was to start Dominionist evangelical "Revivals" all over the country, only the Poor who came and prayed thru and totally submitted to the Dominion of the rich and Gods great plan would get help. he was replaced ..he immediately began undermining the New Deal.. still the fundamental purpose of the GOP is to repeal the New Deal, because it is the work of Satan, communists and Socialists, all interchangeable.

this is back ground info

... this is one of the best..especially from Straus to making slaves
http://doggo.tripod.com/doggchrisdomin.html

this is very good
http://blog.buzzflash.com/hartmann/10016

this is older, more is known about them now that Jeff sharlets book is out
http://www.insider-magazine.com/ChristianMafia.htm

http://www.yuricareport.com/Dominionism/TheDespoilingOfAmerica.htm

http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html
the top 1% richest hold 42% of Americas Financial Wealth, 6 times that of the bottom 80% who hold only 7%.. so the top 20% hold 93% of Financial Wealth. that is why there is a Recession.. nearly all the available money has been looted by the rich. there isn't enough left to run an economy.

the GOP's agenda is really obvious.. it is simply Dominionism.. they don't care who they hurt, who dies in the process.. they are Elite Favorites of god who hates the poor under Divine orders to control the World.. no Quarter for unbelievers.

the best books on the subject, he lived with them..wonderful writer

http://www.amazon.com/Family-Secret-Fundamentalism-Heart-American/dp/0060560053/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1298244911&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Street-Fundamentalist-Threat-American-Democracy/dp/0316091073/ref=pd_sim_b_1

the power the dark side has over the government is frightening, both parties

this really sounds conspiratorial and crazy, but read Sharlets book, cheap on Amazon. i have been researching this for a while. they count on people thinking it's tooo crazy to be true. they are organized and spread in secret cells. people who join are often unaware of what it is, and become indoctrinated. but it really explains all the weird stuff they do. they openly admire the Nazis and murderous dictators. it is always rationalized like.. 'yea, the genocide was unfortunate nut they were really well organized'. it was bad enough before leo strauss amped it up with Machiavellian.. economy of perpetual war, a government that lies and spins the horrible things they do. they have studded morally fallen religious leaders to learn how to spin all the criticism away and come out with opinion poles better than they were before they got caught with their pants down with a homosexual Crack whore.
